Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

Blind tasting, Thanks ciderguy Pours black although not completely opaque with a chocolate head and a longer lasting head than average. Light aroma of mild dark chocolate, plums, blackberries and figs. In mouth, it's a shock how fruity this is. Tons of dark fruits flavors burst on the tongue (plums, blackberries, berries, grapes). Hop character and roastiness is rather restrained for an imperial stout although there's a definite floral touch and a dry saltiness almost smokey finish. Light to medium body for the style with medium carbonation. This is a very different imperial stout which makes it worth a try, more vinous than most and with tons of fruitiness. Seek this out if that's your thing.

Bottle at ultimate glasgow tasting. Aroma is madria, mead, toffee malts and tart fruits. Taste is very intence roasty mead sweetness, but theres a hint of tart darker fruits that make it quite nice.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... The aroma is of warm, melted Cadbury milk chocolate or a very rich chocolate milkshake. There may also be underlying notes of this, that or the other, but who cares? Awesome aroma! Pours thick and black. Can’t see through this well-used motor oil even when held up to a 150 watt bulb. Light brown creamy, medium-sized head. Fully diminishing with minimal lacing. The flavor, like the nose, is filled with extremely rich, malty milk chocolate. Whoppers minus any sweetness! I should be drinking this in a movie theatre. Very well-balanced with a hint of roasted nuts and buttermilk and maybe a gentle touch of brown sugar. Hmmm? Ok, how about this analogy? Cadbury filled M&Ms with dark roasted hazelnuts or macadamias in the center? Good enough? Good enough for me. Full-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Long, astringent, lightly bitter, dry finish. Excellent beer!

2/10/2004: Aged one year, and aged quite well. Good dark fruit caramel and oatmeal flavor with an oily texture. Warming finish, but very nice complexity. 5/6/2003: Rich dark body with a thin ring of head. Sweet roasted malt aroma and a touch of acidity. Chocolate bittersweet body with good light hoppy notes and a dry woody finish. A good well-rounded imperial stout. Quite drinkable and enjoyable, without the intoxicating effects of some imperials.

A very solid, well balanced beer, lots of coffee and chocolate and roasty malts, as you would expect, quite subtle, which i liked, nice balance and decent mouthfeel, with nice bitterness.

No head, pure stale coffee. And then the nose is pure coffee again! As well as an aroma of dried, unsalted peanuts. Coffee, sweet, chocolate with coffee, but not much else, the restsweetness excepted. Very titillating MF, despite no apparent carbonation. As if some organic acid were added. Not very refined. Just quite unidimensional.

Black beer with a light brown head. Sweet and malty aroma with notes of chocolate and a light coffee bitterness. Roasted, coffee bitter flavor with a light chocolate sweetness.

Bottled: Black/brown coloured. Chocolate head, that dies quickly. Roasty, coffeish and chocolatish aroma. Mild and smooth flavour. Coffee, fruits and a light roastyness. A vague burnt and bitterness in the end. Easy drinkable imperial stout. Thanks Raindog.
