Commercial Description:
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you'll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

I hope to re-rate this. 12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Poured a dark brown color with a huge brown head. Aroma is of coffee, bitter chocolate and dark fruit. Flavor is bitter coffee and roasted malt with a smokey finish. I had high hopes for this beer after having their double simcoe, but it left a lot on the table. Body was a little light for an impy.

12 oz. bottle - purchased at Oliver’s in Albany; pours creamy black with thin tan head; roasty, chocolate and alcohol obvious on the nose; drinks very strong and slight creamy body; a little on the thin side, but pretty damn good

12 oz bottle: very generous dark brown, bubbly head that quickly fizzles itself into a thin froth. Seemingly opaque black body that has red-golden, transparent edges. Creamy, milk chocolaty aroma with hints of vanilla bean, roasted toffee, and a sweet pear & cherry fruitiness. Dark, roasted mocha coffee flavours on a slightly thin palate that is lacking the viscosity I would prefer…the finish has hints of bitterness and actually has a little fizziness. A sweet chocolate sugariness combines with a metallic acidity and milkiness. Missing the depth a truly great example, but nice no less.

12oz bottle. Aroma of roasted malt, anise and semisweet chocolate. Pours opaque brown with dark amber highlights. A creamy khaki head fades fairly quickly but leaves decent lacing. Lots of roasted sweetness on the palate. A hint of bitter coffee, bitter chocolate and anise. Fairly astringent bitterness. Medium boded with a bitter roasted finish.

Oaky, fruity, malt aroma, with some choclate and alcohol overtones, dark brown black color, chocolate cake and coffee taste, ok maybe with some raisins in the cake, some hop flavor evident, definite hop bitterness, high carbonation give it a slightly thin mouthfeel, but still a wonderful Imperial

Fairly thin charcoal pour with a tanned marshmallow head. Burnt graham cracker, hazelnut mocha, and a powerful citrus soap. Sweet and rich with touches of strawberry, apple and cinnamon. Quiet, with a hoppy pungency in the back. Clean and empty taste. Black malt, maple, and a bright citrus punch. Overpowering acridity settles down a bit with some warmth, but the wet espresso grind lingers. Hot, reduced honey and brandy. Juicy tropical hops lend a lively disposition which is a bit misplaced in the finish. A dry bite of black cherry skin with a taint of soap. Because of this, the texture settles stubbornly on the thin side, and the malts aren’t quite brawny enough to pull it back. This example is cleary inferior, but it’s nothing intolerable. Thanks, Lou!

Pours a mostly black color with a thin brown head. Strong coffee aroma. This one is a little thin for an impy stout but still enjoyable. Light chocolate and coffee in the flavor. Not a bad beer by any stretch.
