4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
No date to be found on the bottle. This poured with an inch of lingering foam. Not the darkest stout I’ve seen, it has an aroma of coffee and chocolate. Well blended.
The taste is quite modest compared to most other big stouts. Roasted malt and coffee flavors dominate, with a moderate chocolate character and some vinous fruit flavors. Mouthfeel is very light for the style, but creamy. Drinkability is good, but mainly due to the understated nature of this beer. Imagine some of the over the top stouts in this world, but with less concentration. This would make a great introduction to big stouts, but would not satisfy one who seeks an aggressive stout.

Pours an opaque black from the bottle with fluffy tan head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of coffee roast and sweet chocolate, hint of soy. Taste follows, awesome dark roast and chocolate notes. Solid imperial stout with minimal booze.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Look - Nice black body and medium tan head with aggressive pour. Thick bubbled head. No lacing.
Smell - Coffee. Chocolate. Malt. Caramel. Belgian?
Taste - Malt. Chocolate. Caramel. Coffee. Dirty. Alcohol is prominent at the end.
Feel - Creamy and heavy. Carbonation throughout but not a bomb.
Overall - A good imperial stout with little over the top features. Can’t really complain with that.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
4 oz. draft at the brewery in Easton, PA. Opaque black color with tan head. Aroma notes of roasted malt, cocoa, light coffee, smoke and faint dark fruitiness. Taste adds caramel, char, faint vanilla and earthy bitterness. Medium-heavy body, low-moderate carbonation, creamy, dry with bittersweet roast finish. Pretty solid, yet average, imperial stout. Great base for the bourbon barrel aging done later!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. poured into a goblet.
Black, perhaps dark brown. Does not look viscous. Tan head that vanishes quickly to leave only a trace of carbonation.
Roasty. Very roasty. Chocolate aroma, maybe coffee, but mostly roasted malt.
Bitter right at the start. Some chocolate, some coffee. Mostly the same as the smell. Finishes with a roasty malt flavor.
Thin for a big stout (not all that big, really). It finishes a bit dry. It could use a bit more body. Not much alcohol, but it’s only 8%, so I probably wouldn’t even notice it if it were prevalent.
Kinda uninteresting, but well made.
