COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly Weyerbacher Imperial Stout.
Rich, velvety and deliciously complex, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout is a truly distinctive winter warmer. We use seven types of malt and two varieties of hops to bring forth this big brew. Quite robust and roasty on the palate, Weyerbacher Imperial Stout has a wonderfully fruity nose and a moderately dry finish. The taste is highly complex- perhaps you’ll even discern notes of expresso or chocolate.

Bottle from Sams. They replaced a terrible old label with a terrible new label. Pours fairly average-looking near-black with a minimal tan head. Nose of dark fruits and chocolate. Didn’t really get much coffee action. Taste is relatively complex, but marred by its sweetness.

Bottle pour opaque black with brown tones. Nose of coffee and roast. Taste initial dark fruit, coffee, dark chocolate, and roast, close to burnt. Nice mouthfeel and bitter finish.

Bottle. 4/8/13. Pours oily and dark as night with a thin yet somewhat resilient brown head. Aroma is vanilla, banana, candi, floral, grass, wood, roasty, nutty. Taste is boozey, chocolate (truffles), lots of dark fruit, berries, spicy, nice bitterness; dark chocolate finish. Well-balanced. Nice lacing. Mouth feel is thick and creamy; coating. Medium-low carbonation; works. Really nice; can’t complain too much about any element in particular. What struck me most was the aroma. This beer smells amazing. Not to take anything away from the taste, appearance, etc. The aroma was my favorite experience here.

355 cl. bottle @ home. Procured online. Not the biggest fan of the rather tacky label, didn’t care to much either about the cap which I didn’t even bother keeping. Pours not the darkest of black but black never the less black, little vanish mocha head. Nose is alcohol and bitter coffee grounds, light chocolate and chocolate milk, touch paint thinner. Taste is chocolate truffles, cacao powder, light bitterness, grainy, light chocolate milk, light bitter grounds and touch roast bitterness, cheap powdery espresso, strong bakers fare, something odd, almonds, uneatable berries? Bit lighter, almost touch fizzy. Some mixed feelings here, bit odd, not sure if this is supposed to be like this, bit off but not entirely bad either but than again it seems to be hard to make a bad RIS.

Pours pitch black with a long-lasting, foamy brown head. Slightly smoky, sweet aroma of chocolate and toast, with a hint of alcohol. Some fruitier aromas come through as it warms. Very toasty flavor with chocolate and sweet malt as well as notes of coffee and a warming alcohol. The mouthfeel is a little thin and watery for an imperial stout. The dry, roasty finish is long and slightly bitter. Overall, I would look for it again.
