4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - MAR 22, 2010UPDATED: JUL 12, 2011 Bottle. Poured very dark brown with a small creamy tan head that was mostly diminishing and had some nice lacing. The aroma was of burnt bread malts, a mild resin hop and a sweet doughy yeast with hints of dark chocolate, coffee and molasses. It tasted malty and moderately sweet with notes of chocolate and molasses in the beginning and finished a bitter-sweet with a nice hint of coffee and hops at the end with the flavor lasting a nice while after the swallow. Mouthfeel was full in body and creamy yet a little oily in texture with a flat carbonation. Overall a very tasty and smooth Imperial Stout with really no taste of the high alcohol content. I also like the name…

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Chuckaduck (490) - Kentucky, USA - APR 8, 2013
Bottle. 4/8/13. Pours oily and dark as night with a thin yet somewhat resilient brown head. Aroma is vanilla, banana, candi, floral, grass, wood, roasty, nutty. Taste is boozey, chocolate (truffles), lots of dark fruit, berries, spicy, nice bitterness; dark chocolate finish. Well-balanced. Nice lacing. Mouth feel is thick and creamy; coating. Medium-low carbonation; works. Really nice; can’t complain too much about any element in particular. What struck me most was the aroma. This beer smells amazing. Not to take anything away from the taste, appearance, etc. The aroma was my favorite experience here.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 77ships (2156) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAR 17, 2013
355 cl. bottle @ home. Procured online. Not the biggest fan of the rather tacky label, didn’t care to much either about the cap which I didn’t even bother keeping. Pours not the darkest of black but black never the less black, little vanish mocha head. Nose is alcohol and bitter coffee grounds, light chocolate and chocolate milk, touch paint thinner. Taste is chocolate truffles, cacao powder, light bitterness, grainy, light chocolate milk, light bitter grounds and touch roast bitterness, cheap powdery espresso, strong bakers fare, something odd, almonds, uneatable berries? Bit lighter, almost touch fizzy. Some mixed feelings here, bit odd, not sure if this is supposed to be like this, bit off but not entirely bad either but than again it seems to be hard to make a bad RIS.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 gabbama (201) - Dayton, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Pours pitch black with a long-lasting, foamy brown head. Slightly smoky, sweet aroma of chocolate and toast, with a hint of alcohol. Some fruitier aromas come through as it warms. Very toasty flavor with chocolate and sweet malt as well as notes of coffee and a warming alcohol. The mouthfeel is a little thin and watery for an imperial stout. The dry, roasty finish is long and slightly bitter. Overall, I would look for it again.
