3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled on draft at tarrants during another wonderful happy hour. Not as ’scottish’ as I had hoped. Was sweet toffee, earthy brown malt and hints of brown sugar. A little dark fruitiness, and even a faint old earthy hoppiness. but overall nothing too special. definitely drinkable though.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle shared by EZ given to him by..........Poured a mahogany brown with a small till nil foamy beige head. Aroma is loaded with alcohol, I know shocking for a Weyerbacher, slight hint of smoke, peat, grapes, raisin bread dough. Flavor is weak and watered down especially compared to the aroma, some caramel, bread and yeast follow. Thinner body which comes off almost as watery and soft carbonation. This beer sucks.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark reddish brown with minimal head. Aroma of Cherry Licorice. Taste is initially sweet with a complex array of rich malts. This is slightly offset by a dry spicy finish and a pleasant roasted malt lingering flavor.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Capone’s from a 1L hand-bottling. Pours burnt sienna with ruby edges and a 1-finger khaki head that leaves decent lace. Nose is malty, fruity, with some caramel, brown sugar, and toffee notes. Tastes very malty, with a berry fruitiness, caramel and brown sugar, mild roasty and rauchy notes, and a medium palate heft. I say 3.5.
