Bottle. Rich golden body with a big creamy, off-white head. Sugary banana smell, with some aromatic clove. Too sweet, syrupy and cloying flavor. Feels great in the mouth, rich with a pleasant bite of alcohol.

Slightly hazy gold with a thick white head. beautiful strong aroma of malt laced with bourbon and oak. Flavor is spicy malt, bourbon, valinna, oak. Lightly astringent on the palate. Amazingly good.

12 oz. bottle via trade with jasonmech77 - Pours a hazy golden color with a half finger thick white head that faded pretty quick. Aroma is oak/bourbon, esters (citrus), and yeast. Has a fairly strong bourbon flavor with some esters and spice thrown in. Medium body. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. A decent beer. Thanks Jason.

cloudy yellow, wispy head, light lace, sweet fruity spicy aroma with a bit of vanilla, sweet spicy flavor with nice vanilla but only a hint of oak, an improvement over the typical triple, creamy vanilla grows, as always it turns into creamy oak and vanilla with just a bit of spices

Strong malt aroma, hint of smoke, wood and bubblegum? Golden, small white head. Smokey flavour start, woody, oaky and boozey. Strong, almost harsh, either the abv or the bourbon is overboard. Bold offering, just not for me.

Cloudy blonde body with a very small white head. Sweet syrupy beer with the barrel aspect being very much apparent. Light fruity notes. Sticky body. Alcohol apparent. Inexpressive hops. Overall feeling of licking honey on wood. Original but not very interesting sipper. Not a very successful barrel-aging experiment if you ask me. Not surprising, a prophecy never comes through as planned.

Thin white head. Hazy yellow body with floaties. Malty milky tobaccoish aroma with herbal hoppy background. Acidic milky toffeeish taste, kind of sharp and unbalanced, with notes of honey, wood, and marzipan. Dry thin sharpish aftertaste. Unusual, but quite good. (0.65l bottle at glouglouburp’s.)

(Rating #1165)

My Bottom Line:
This bourbon barrel Tripel is heavy on the bourbon (like many Weyerbacher oak-aged strong ales, I find), but its vanilla sweetness accompanies the pear and apple fruitiness of the Belgian yeast quite nicely, forming a classy yet intense sipper.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thin veil of foam floats atop the cloudy blond.
-The malts’ honeyed sweetness provide plenty of body to warn the drinker to take smaller sips.
-A greater hop presence in the back would have been appreciated to balance the beer out and facilitate further sips.
-There might be a little too much barrel apport for my tastes, but it remains a fun barrel aging experiment nonetheless.

Bottle.

Bottle. Golden clear colour with a small white head. Fruity aroma with notes of sweetness, oak and apple. Very nice flavour of yeast, sweetness, fruit and alcohol. One of the better US-tripel.
