COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Massively big and delicious, QUAD is an elegant and dark ale. Rich with complexity and flavor, try savoring it after a long day or during a fine dinner. You also might enjoy it as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to a dessert, but QUAD stands alone quite well. We recommend enjoying QUAD in a brandy snifter or wineglass so you can drink in the aroma of this fine elixir.

Draft at RFD. Aroma of belgian yeast, light fruit, malt. Pours cloudy amber with a thin white head. Flavor cherry, sweet malt, a little spice, yeast, a little tangy citrus. Rich mouthfeel. This was lighter in color and flavor than I expected, but still very nice.

12 oz bottle. Very impressed with this one, and I wasn’t expecting all too much. Pours a medium brown, very similar to apple juice, with a small head that quickly fades. Aroma exudes bananas, malts, cherries, dried dark fruit, and bitter alcohol. Flavor bursts with bananas and dark fruits, along a noticeable hint of cherry, before finishing in a alcohol and spice blast. Closer to room temperature, a delightful syrupy river of caramel meets the bananas at the tip of the tongue. I wavered between giving it a 4 and a 4.1 just because the alcohol can be a bit strong, but I imagine that with a year’s aging this one would be even more incredible, so I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Great beer.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with moderate white head. Aroma is bursting with banana, raisins, and bubblegum. Light on the palate. Flavor has fig and molasses with a hop character and plenty of fruit. This isn’t a traditional quad, but it’s somewhere between a tripel and a quad. It is delicious.

22oz. Bomber from fall 2007. Ruby red with zero foam. Strong aroma of green raisins, figs and candy sugar. Tastes moderately sweet with a streak of spicy Belgian yeast. Dried fruit flavors are noticeable with hints of date, fig, raisin and plum. Also shows some peppery flavors that give it a little bite and prevent it from being a syrupy malt bomb. Mouthfeel is medium, but substantial enough to support the high alcohol content. Finishes with a note of warming booze and a dry, tart and lingering aftertaste.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2009 Wow. Very impressive. Lightly cloudy brown with a small white head. Aroma of sharp, fruity malt. Flavor is beautiful and complex: dark fruits, molasses, figs, yeast. Sweet and strong. Potent. Tangy. Excellent.

Cloudy pale brown, nice complex aroma of red grapes, and sweet malt. Flavor is very nice, alcohol hidden pretty well, sweet and rich with a great complexity. So many flavors going on here.

Sweet. Banana. Tastes a lot like a Tripel, less like a Quad. Belgian yeast taste. Nice overall.
