Delicious flavor. Very complex. What a knockout beer. Poured dark with a sweet raisin,dried plum flavor. Silky smooth and coats the palate encouraging a long flavorful finish.

This has a cloudy date colored body and has almost no head, merely half a ring of bubbles. It has an aroma of very dried fruits, malt, alcohol, and burnt brown sugar. The flavor has a sweet & chewy toasted malt, brown sugar, alcohol, burnt wood, and an old fruitiness. It finishes sticky, yet hot & peppery. Dissipating white head. Modestly hazy, finely perceptable yeast. Lustrous golden-amber body. Low density appearance. Aroma of burnt rubber, green banana, bubble gum and caramelized sugar. Overt esters in the flavor followed by a long, malty finish. Bracingly sweet. Some maple and honey character lend some interest. Too cloying and indelicate overall.

UPDATED: JUN 22, 2007 Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy amber, topped by an off-white film. Sweet aroma of very ripe bananas, figs, candy-sugar and some alcohol. Sweet malty and dried fruit flavors. Plenty of fig and brown sugar. Ripe banana sweetness if subdued by an astringent alcohol burn on the throat, yet it has a decent drink ability for the ABV. Some Belgian yeast, and a late hint of roastyness. Overall it’s sweet, simple overly syrupy, & seems artificial.

A good attempt at an ABT from my home state. Pour was a light brown with little head. Aroma was a little weak, but the taste was big. Fruit, malt, caramel and sugar. I would never guess this beer to be 11.9%. Nice and chewy.

This one pours with a cloudy-reddish almost looks like apple cider. The white head fades extremely fast with bubbles hanging around the rim of the glass. The aroma is huge with candy sugar, plum, and a definate rich malt. I can’t taste alot of alcohol, but I know its there.(this is a good thing). It buns a little as it goes down the hatch A deep malty flavor that is not oppresive, and very nicely done. A shot of bitterness at the end to balance out the huge maltiness. I have drank several Weyerbachers and have not liked any of them. This changes everything! This is very nicely done. I would drink this one again, and again......etc.

12’er. Aged about one year. Beatiful color. Vibrant nose. Delicious flavor. A great beer!

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2007 The aroma is sort of flat from this dark brown almost cherry wood colored beer. There are notes of dried fruits (cherries and apricots) and not much more. The flavor is hot with the alcohol not making any compromises. There are notes of candy malt sweetness, dark fruits, and a slight light hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is chewy with some breadiness and a soothing carbonation that makes the beer seem creamy and smooth on the palate, but the alcohol’s detracting presence takes away from the overall enjoyment. A solid quad from PA, but unmistakably un-Belgian.
