3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Steeeve (305) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 17, 2011
Fairly clear dark red pour with very little head. Aroma is quite fruity, with a lot of cherry and raspberry scents. Sweet, yeasty smell. Actually looks and smells more like a dubbel. Taste is fruity, some spice, lots of darker fruits, and a slight hint of oakiness. A little bit of booze. Could use a little age, but as it stands the alcohol is not overbearing. Full body. Not mind blowing, and you probably wont mistake this for Rochefort 10, but overall pretty tasty and very drinkable.

Older (2006-2007 bottle) via a trade. Pours with a murky amber-copper body and a nice, off-white head. Aromas are super malty, brandy, bread, marmalade, candi sugar, orange peel, lightly musty and vinous. Honey and bready, notes. Nicely aged. Raisins, very old balsamic and dates. Flavors of brandy, orange peel, alcohol, candied dates, cherry, brown sugar, lightly metallic, honey drizzled biscuits. Still a decent amount of alcohol. Very vinous. Rich, decadent, slightly syrupy. Still a bit of refined booze (mixed with oxidation). It comes across quite well. Medium bubbles. Decently sweet. Lingering, lightly alcoholic, brandy finish.

12oz bottle in a snifter. Pours amber with a beige, lacy head. Aroma of light fruit, spicy yeast, banana, and doughy malts. Flavor similar. A smooth texture. Not bad but not the best quad by a long shot.

Pours amber with a small creamy head. Yeasty, vanilla, and banana nose. Taste is sweet, malty, and with a distinct ripened banana after taste. Alcohol is nicely carried. Mouth feel is medium. Very good quad. Worth every penny!

sweet nose of vanilla, honey and creamy perfume with rum. bit of alcohol and fruit in the flavor. mellow and warming amber brew with amber white head. flavor of banana creme the brew is silky with a fleeting waft of vegetable. altogeather wonderful for a style that i find hard to appreciate. $3.49 for 12 oz bottle bottled 10/21/10. sweet toned down spice character that i found endearing. a great dessert in itself with a fleeting finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 twindadplus2 (504) - Wisconsin, USA - JAN 14, 2011
Hazy mahogany color with a one finger beige head that faded quickly. Aroma of bananas and sugary fruit. Flavor is sweet caramelized fruit and spicy yeast. Spicy, burnt sugar finish with a medium bodied, crisp palate. Hard to compare it to St. Bernardus but It’s a good quad.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 russwbeck (117) - Tyrone, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 7, 2011
Nice hazy mahogany pour without much head and basically no lacing. Lots of dark fruits and hints of alcohol on the smell here. Definite Belgian yeast strains and very well balanced. I’m hit first with the dark fruits and some candied sugar on the taste, it’s very sweet. Backed up with some spiciness and bits of alcohol, which stick around on the aftertaste. Light bodied with a bite of carbonation. Pretty sweet and boozy which I don’t dislike, but it hurts the drinkability.
