Hawksfan17 (670), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2005 Pours a hazy golden brown, smells of fruit, the flavor is very fruity, smooth, and warming. The alcohol really comes into play in the flavor and afterwards. A very nice brew.
slimchill (721), Austin, Texas, USA Jan 7, 2009 Bottle. Nose is sweet with an odd undertone of something just shy of caramel and a bit of alcohol. Murky brown with little head. Yeasty fruit notes with very little spice. Sweet, somewhat appropriately, but without much depth. Slightly hard to drink, syrupy and thick. Maybe my expectations were a bit high after some raving by others, but I’m not particularly with this as a quadrupel. Grovlam (3420), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 6, 2009 Bottle. [Trade with hopscotch and the Florida Crew, thanks buddy] Average beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma of fruit, yeast, alcohol, dried fruit, mild citrus, and a hint of Port Wine. Over the palate came dates, raisins, and some malty notes as well mixed again with the dried fruity feel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor. Lingering warming light raisins fruity mild spicy finish. LilBeerDoctor (797), East Setauket, New York, USA Jan 2, 2009 Bottle (probably slightly aged, but I’m not sure how old it was). Pours a cloudy dirty orange with a small white head. Aroma of raisins, sugar, and alcohol. Flavor of vegetal notes, yeast, sweet apple juice. It was a muddled mess to me and I wasn’t a fan of this one.
6/4/6/3/13 (3.2/5) Fin (2568), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Dec 9, 2008 Bottle at Eulogy, Philadelphia 18-11-08. Pours muddy amber in colour with a white rim for a head. Loz detected liquorice straight away and I think she was spot on. Really nice feel in the mouth, the alcohol was warming rather than being harsh with plumes heading to the back of the mouth. Some yeast on the nose, vanilla and oak really push through and then big, big hit of toffee and banana, very nice. A7A3 F8 P4 OV16 3.8 jmm635 (124), Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 5, 2008 Appearance is a little weird. Extremely clear, red-amber color which seemed weird for a quad. Aroma was really strong. Very alcoholic, but still sweet and fruity. Definitely some yeast in the aroma. Flavor is dominated by malts but you can still taste the sweetness. Alcohol fades in the taste, which created a pretty nice palate.
