3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 22, 2013 Dark fruits, sweet, raisons, strong alcohol, strong, strong flavors, all go pretty well together. Sweetness is really the limiting factor in the drink. Can be somewhat overwhelming. Some spices. Pretty well done.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home. Pours amber brown. Fast-receding head. Light, sweet aroma with notes of grape. Opens almost mild, with pleasantly smooth malt notes. Develops into well-balanced mix of malt and wild yeast, ripe apple. Warming, bitter finish with strong alcohol notes. Well-carbonated, rich mouthfeel. Potent brew, rich flavor.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours reddish-copper with brilliant clarity and minimal head. The aroma is bready and fruity with notes of plum and raisin. Tastes sweet and malty but not overwhelmingly so. Immediate warming from the alcohol. Flavors are molasses, caramel, fruit, and slightly of plum. It starts sweet and ends sweet with nice flavors, no bitterness, and high alcohol content. This one is definitely a sipper.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle to wine glass. Pours deep red brown, descent khaki head, some lacing and retention. Aroma of molasses, banana and anise. Tastes is fairly sweet, medium sour. Full bodied, lively very small bubble carbonation, mouth feel is rather sticky. Finishes complex sweet and sour with notes of raisin, dates, candied sugar, ginger and cherry. Alcohol is well apparent but is not a distraction. A fine example of the style! Well done.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at Tria-Rittenhouse. Pours a mahogany-dark brown with a half finger tan head with pretty nice lacing. Aroma is of cherries, dark fruits, raisins, caramel, candied belgian yeast, sweet bready pudding, brown sugar, and some light booze. Taste is about the same as the aroma with just a little more booze. Has a medium-full body with a semi creamy mouthfeel and a mostly sweet, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty quad that hides its high abv very well.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle. Aggressively poured with a small quickly dissipating off-white head. The body is surprisingly fizzy and a deep brownish amber. Smell is burnt sugars, caramel, raisins, dark fruits, prototypical good american style quad (which isnít all that common actually). Flavor is grapey (and rapey), spice notes, licorice, anise cookies (of one i just ate so maybe its still that), slightly cloying booze caramel, dark fruits, raisins. It is a bit harsh at times but nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Super brown, reddish translucency. Boozy nose with cherry. The taste has an alcohol singe slight prickly carb, sweet syrup and more cherry. Definite alcohol sweet. Maybe not the best quad that Iíve sampled, but certainly solid and Iím stoked I got a four pack.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a beautiful clear rosy mahogany with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Aroma has a strong caramel note with brandy and clove tones backing it up. Bold flavor charges caramel, nutty, fruity (apple, grape, a little cherry), cloves, and subtle roast malt notes across the palate, a veritable stampede of flavor. Texture is firm and smooth, yet has some good fizz to it, leaving a caramel and brandy finish. This beer is one to sip and savor - and experience.
