matt7215 (499), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada Apr 26, 2008 12 oz bottle from a trade with franksnbeans. pours clear amber with a small tan head. not very quadish in appearance. aromas of dark fruits and booze. flavours are similar dark fruit booziness but the alcohol is more tame in the flavours then the aromas. if this was toned down to around 8% itd be an enjoyable BSA but as is its nothing more then a quick buzz.
blklab2007 (507), Connecticut, USA Jul 25, 2008 bottle poured into a trappist glass has an orange amber color and a thin off white head that fell quickly and had virtually no lace. aroma has spices, banana yeast, candy sugar, dark dried fruit, and alcohol. mouth feel is medium with some thickness and low carbonation. flavor has thick malt with sweetness, dark dried fruit, light orange peel, plenty of spices, and mellow banana yeast that gets lost. alcohol is definitely noticeable and at times becomes boozy. finish has some bitterness and an odd flavor at the sides of the tongue. spices are a tad high for me and the booze just crushes the taste buds.
thornecb (975), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Jul 18, 2008 Pours orange-amber into a trappist glass. White head quickly recedes to skim surface leaving no lacing. Pit fruit and bubblegum aromas. Sticky sweet upfront with a pit fruit middle and lasting alcohol burn. The_Epeeist (892), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2008 Updated: Jul 18, 200812 oz bottle, cellared over a year. Almost clear orange brown with some beige, bubbly edging. Nose is banana, raisin and booze. A bit syrupy with a faint tingle. Taste is toffee and apple brandy with a dry yeasty finish. Sweet and simple but easy to drink with well hidden alcohol. Could age many years. Funknmilla (489), Absecon, New Jersey, USA Jul 16, 2008 12 oz bottle...reddish copper--beige head...you can smell the alcohol in the first whiff...also banana...malty banana...and a raisin/prune undertone....silky body with drippy lacing.....flavor---strong alcohol in the first burst...then some banana.....alcohol infused and candy tainted na na ...i even burb up some banana (which im a sucker for)-----Excellent pairing------homemade banana bread...it absorbs the alcohol and brings out the flavors in the brew....a stickiness left to the lips......very tasty and alcohol very well disguised daniellerose7 (119), new york, New York, USA Jul 14, 2008 I was not too excited about this beer- as a big Belgian/Belgian style fan, I don’t think that this compares to other quadrupels. The alcohol taste is a little too prevalent and there isn’t quite enough other flavor to back it up. But, the more I drink, the better it is.
