Rapture is upon us! It’s a 6.7% American Wild Red Ale that has undergone 100% of its fermentation and 18 months of aging in pinot noir wine barrels on a collection of micro flora that has created wonderful flavors of berry fruits, oak and a pronounced, yet quite pleasant tartness. The acidity is rounded out with a muted vinous quality, satisfying maltiness and effervescent mouthfeel that is sure to bring you joyful ecstasy.

Bottle. Pours almost clear reddish amber with a medium off white head. The aroma is sour cherries, caramel, barnyard, leather, citrus and ripe fruit. The flavour is ripe fruit, caramel, sour but ripe berries, oak and is quite vinous overall. Fantastic!

Pour murky brown, with a small off-white head. Aroma of sour berries, brett, bread, slight hay, barnyard and some slight woody notes as well. Well balanced, and easy drinking. The taste is sour, with some faint woody and sweet notes. Medium bodied, with a semi-flat carb.

75 cl bottle. Hazy copper pour, small white head. Aroma is sour with prominent berry notes - lots of sour raspberries. Musty oak notes and vanilla. Nice dry red wine tannins and brettanomyces notes. The brett us held back and compliments the wine notes and sweetness very well. Taste us nicely sour, nice raspberries, lovely wine barrel Pinot Noir notes, tannins, vinegar notes, lovely brett. What strikes me about this beer is its elegance and its wonderful balance. Very masterful and well crafted.

750 ml bottle I believe from dmac?? Thanks, Dave. An exciting rate on a lazy summer Sunday. Pours a rich well hazed copper brown pour, healthy orange red glow and mellow haze throughout. A frothy tannish head that dies to a small ring, laces small. Aromas are a luscious sour brown base preaching sour red fruit, cherries and raspberries, touch of soured plum mixing with firm red wine tannins, oak, some mellow red wine vinegarette. Red wine elements grow, lacto like yogurt, sour lemons, and some funky brett sneak in, dry and funky. Touches of biscuit, bready malts, not much though. A firm red wine base with sour red fruits makes it’s presence felt. Initial is quite lovely, offering a lighter end of medium bodied feel, firm sourness from cherries, raspberries, touches of melon, red wine and more fruity white wine citrus and melon. Touches of vanilla, grapeskin tannins, and wine. A kiss of spirit with a touch of biscuit and maltiness, offers a bit of body that offers something to hang onto the palate, good balance with sour berry and wine barrel character. Middle offers some firm sourness, red berry elements run over each other with cherry, raspberry, and some gentle kisses of currant. Red wine plays well, a bit of vinegar, but staying away from anything cloying or acidic, the balance is really on here with a bit of body to give it a great mouthfeel. Considerably better than Riserva, offering more balance and body, less ABV related harshness and no harsh acedic quality. Very nice here. A good barrel presence, good flavors, firm sourness that doesn’t get offensive and a touch of the maltbill hanging on to leave a bit of body. Sour red fruit, red wine, some touches of melon, citrus, yogurt, and oak. Very nice. Great flavors and feel on the palate. Well done sour effort from Weyerbacher well improved over the dry and boozy Riserva.

25.4 oz bottle. Clearish brown with scant beige froth. Nose is sour cherry, yeast, bubblegum and woody funk. Juicy medium light with a mild sparkle. Initially quite sour, sweetness emerging, finishing dry and leathery. Taste features sweet cherry, tart cranberry, wood and lemon juice.

Bottle. Pours tranbslucent ruby with nose of earthy oaky berries, some funk and vinous fruits also, Tastes of berries, some lactic earthyiness, and mild funk. This one works well, and finishes complex, earthy, fruity, and with a nice dose of cobwebby yeast esters.

Bottle shared by MikeLovesBeer.com. Thanks brotha! Another one I was looking forward to trying. This was sour, but not overly tart sour. Had hints of cherries, cinnamon and slight funk. Overall a pretty solid tasting sour.

Säuerlicher und kirschiger Holzbeginn. Die Säuerlichkeit ist dabei angenehm und steigert sich nicht mehr, das Bier ist weich und ausgewogen. Fruchtig, noch etwas holzig im Abgang. Gut! 8/12/12/12/11/11

750 ml bottle that poured a reddish amber color that made it very interesting. Aromas of strawberries, cherries, oak, and some acid funkiness. Flavors are tart fruits, some vinegar, funk and some oak. Really nice beer in my book would like to get some more.
