GABF 2011. Pours with an off-white head over a hazed golden to copper hued body. Aromas are huge and vinous with a good amount of barrel. Fruity, brett, funk and a nice acidity. Flavors are acidic, vibrant, vinous, dark fruits (specifically plums), and wine notes. Good and dry. Nice acidity on the finish.

bottle... bright caramel, light tan head... kind of smells like a generic American sour, yeast, light oak, a bit of cherry... taste is ok, a bit boring, a little vinegar, oak and cherries finish is fake... ok
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drake (6594) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - NOV 27, 2011
750 mL bottle shared at the 6th annual Richmond Industry Gathering, 11/27/11. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of tart citrus and earthy notes, faint buttery malts. The taste is tart citrus, earthy notes and funk. Medium bodied. Nice.

Thanks to MrChopin for this one! Cloudy amber pour with some serious sediment going on. Nose holds lots of black cherry, and dark saison-like notes of pumpernickel bread, plum, and lots of pedio/lacto and earthy funk. The flavor is disappointing, sort of like a mediocre oud bruin with the aforementioned dark fruit and funk but watered down and lacking complexity. Still nice, but didn’t live up to its promising beginnings.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dagimp (602) - Philly, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2011
Purchased at the brewery. 750ml into a snifter. Pours with a lot of fizzy head, no lacing. Aroma of raspberries, cherries and some tartness. Mouthfeel is very carbonated. Unfortunately the fizzynes takes away a lot from this beer. Taste is of cherries, vinegar, raspberries and funk. Nice dry and tart finish. Not one of the best sours I’ve tried but very, very good. Kind of like Riserva’s little brother.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrChopin (2527) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Hazy amber with beige head, large-bubbled. Nose is strong cherry, brown sugar, bit seedy with low acetic notes. Flavor is cherry, bit of stalk/plant, sticky brown sugar and sweet malt, vinegar emerging in the finish. Thin body, cherry and skin-like, lightly tart. One of the most dialed down Weyerbacher beers I’ve had, but muted as a result.

Bottle shared by MrChopin. Nose of black cherry, plastic, oak, cough syrup. Flavor is similar, slightly muddled, very woody, and not all that sour. A disappointment but it is Weyerbacher.
