BigSkyman007 (188), USA Apr 19, 2002 I've never had a raspberry stout before, but this was excellent, good to sip on or drink for dessert. Has a very nice chocolately taste, good raspberry/coffee/chocolate aroma, with a good mix of raspberry flavor. An interesting variation from the imperial stout, and weyerbacher once again proves why they are one of the best microbreweries in America. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Jul 27, 2004 During recess at St Agatha’s School in Brooklyn, they sold a candy called a Knickerbocker. It was raspberry jelly covered with chocolate. I loved them. From time to time I find them somewhere and always buy them. Well, I now have the liquid equivalent of that delicious treat. This was awesome. It pours out jet black with a foamy dark tan head. Visually appealing. The aroma was intoxicating: chocolate and raspberry, just like my beloved candy. It felt smooth and creamy, almost syrupy, in the mouth. The flavor was like drinking my little jelly rolls. Just the right blend of chocolate and raspberry so that neither dominates but both compliment each other. This was just fantastic. Thanks, DocLoc, for the taste treat. michael-pollack (1210), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 27, 2004 WOW. Tastes like a rasberry flavored Godiva choclate. Not too sweet, though, well balanced. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jun 24, 2003 Color is solid black with a quarter inch head of tight bubbly foamed froth, dark caramel tannish in color with a slight pink tint which faded moderately to a thin haze on top and leaves curtains of lace that breaks up fast into spots and sticks somewhat. Smell is soft and fresh of dark chocolate and raspberries and notes of banana and dark citrusy hops. Taste is lovely of dark chocolate, partially sweetning, lightly tangy, smooth and mild, darkly toned a bit with the perfect smack of raspberry coating in the middle and finishing even better with more raspberry and dark fruit sweetness and mildly fruity dryness and a nice light earthy hop twingyness. Amazingly yummy and delicious! Feel is pretty full to medium and nearly heavy, starts easy, middle goes sweet, tart, smoothing into fruity tangyness and real nice creamyness throughout. An absolutely fantastic stout, highly recommend getting your hands on some. fuche_bu (144), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 6, 2001 The raspberries actually do gently assert themselves here.
