3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Jim. Thanks!
A: Brackish, opaque red. Pinkish head devolves into a ring. Decent lacing.
N: Raspberries, grapefruit, lemon, oak, and vinegar. Touch of red grape.
T: Aggressively sour, perhaps top 3 of any I’ve had. Vinegar, oak, hints of acetone and the sweetness of raspberries offer some respite, but really, this just puckering.
M: Light body, incredibly scraping. Alcohol is well hidden.
O: A kick in the teeth, but it remains enjoyable. This might cause some digestive issues if you’re not careful, though.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: Amber to copper with a pink hue, tall head that quickly settles into a sparse head with a thick ring.
Aroma:Pickle brine, raspberry and vinegar, oddly appealing, yet off-putting at once.
Taste: Tart raspberry up front into a vinegar and pickle brine that makes this hard to conquer solo.
Palate: Light to medium bodied with high carbonation.
Overall: This is more like drinking raspberry pickle juice than anything. Enjoyable to an extent, but nothing I want to repeat. This is a huge task solo. My mistake.

bottle shared by tom10101, thanks bro! pours hazy, almost cloudy, golden-orange, red hue, with a very small off-white head, no retention. acetic and citric raspberries, woodsy, fresh raspberry purée, tannins, toasted malts in brettied mixture. soft carbonation, light body - oily but doesn’t feel heavy or boozy at all, lightly acetic and fruity finish. nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle (750 ml). 2012 vintage. From John, thanks! Unclear orange/pinkish with no head and no lacing. Aroma is mostly of fresh raspberries with acetic notes, oak, brettanomyces and light earthy notes. Taste is slightly sweet with fresh raspberries, moderate tartness, acetic notes, wood, earthy notes and light funk. Alcohol is exceptionally well hidden; it’s drinking like a 5-6% abv raspberry beer. Dry mouthfeel. Almost winey at times. Low to moderate carbonation. Medium body. A really good raspberry Sour Ale. Complex and really enjoyable. I would love to have it again.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep amber with pinkish/red tones. Nose is a meaty, boozy raspberry/strawberry with oak, light funk/hay, and faint vanilla. Flavor is raspberry with a somewhat sharp acetic acid sour that hangs for a bit before cleaning off to a watery wheat malt and faint vanilla/oak flavor. Lingering tart berry. Good, but a bit sharp and harder to drink at 11%.
