COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
August is also going to bring our next Brewer’s Select Beer, Romeo. We’re going to go Belgian with this one. It has not been bottled at the time I’m writing this, but I can tell that it will be an ~8.5% Belgian Red Ale. We are looking at around 35 IBUs and a nice dose of Hallertuaer and Saaz in the finish. Maybe you should consider a gift for your mama after what Crimson made you do.

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks hopdog). Looks good for the style; a hazy amberish brown with thin off-white lacing. Smells solid; sweet and malty with notes of caramel and dark fruit. Tastes like it smells with some Belgian yeast and light hop notes. Nice and smooth on the palate. Good beer.

Pours murky brown with a reddish tint around the edges. Off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, spices. Flavor is quite sweet. Brown sugar and syrup dominate. Not a terrible beer but this can remain on the one-off series.

Draft at The Pour House in Westmont, NJ. Pours a dark plum/chocolate brown color that is completely opaque with a half finger light beige head that slowly fades into a lasting ring. Streaks of lacing left behind. Spicy, vinous aroma with lots of zesty peppery notes, dark fruit and chocolate malt. Slightly medicinal with hints of pepper and clove up front countered by hints of chocolate, grape and dark berries. Medium bodied with a slightly medicinal, chalky mouthfeel. Subtle spice character up front but less so than the aroma suggests. Very vinous with hints of grape, cherry and other dark berries. This is countered nicely by a slightly toasted malt backbone with hints of chocolate and toffee. Well balanced with a well masked abv making it easy to drink.

pineypower (2478) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - OCT 20, 2011
Pours out an attractive reddish color with a small white head. Aroma is of banana, cherry and some light yeasty fruits, and a touch of hop maybe? Taste is complex, nice banana notes, some sweet fruity malts, cherry, yeast and light earth, but all the while that banana flavor is hiding in there. This is a really solid offering, hope they make this again.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of Belgian yeast, malt, dark ripe fruit, light raisin, slight tannin, slight bubblegum, slight banana, and a hint of spice. Poured orange/amber in color with a tiny, off-white head around the edges only. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of malt, Belgian yeast, hops, spice, slight bubblegum, slight banana, malt, slight candi sugar, and a hint of alcohol. Medium body. Lightly sticky, then lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter, malt, hop, Belgian yeast, light spice, slight candi sugar, and a hint of bubblegum. 8.5%ABV is noticeable in the flavor but not hot or overbearing.

Pours a hazy caramel color with a very thin tan head. Aroma has some yeasty, fruity notes, a hint of caramel, and some spicy hop notes. Flavor is more robust than the arome suggests...more hoppy with floral and spice notes, doughy maltiness, and notable fruitiness. Mouthfeel is medium/full and the finish is warming and lingers with fruitiness and spicy hops.
