bottle. murky gold with a small white head. sweet and fruity with vanilla cake mix and floral hops and a twist of orange. a big smack from the 10% and a fullish body with lots of carbonation. bitter. some vanilla notes, but mostly an acidic bitterness from all these peel additions. a lot like grapefruit rind or lemon rind blended with the harshness of the abv. too bitter for me.

12 oz bottle. Cloudy olive orange with a sudsy white head. Nose is banana, yeast and toffee, hints of earthy citrus peel with tailing peppery heat. Drinks fairly smooth considering the ABV but seems heavy and gluey despite the carb buzz. Taste is cane sugar, sage and orange finishing with dry citrus pith and soap.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ar: Orange, banana, some faint breadiness.
Ap: Cloudy pale orange, no real head, but some wisps of off-white lacing.
T: Banana and clove up front - some big citrus notes and sweet malt - medium bitterness with a herbal and spicy edge - some warm alcohol throughout - lingering fruit, citrus and peach, on the finish.
P: Medium body with high carbonation - finish is dry.
O: A big saison with some nice complexity and a great ester profile - probably needs some of the alcohol heat to subside, and it lacks the big saison head.

Bottle from Craft Ale. Pours deep canary golden with 1-finger frothy white head. Nose is yeasty rock sugary malt, tart citrus, hops, spicy pepper. Tastes rock sugary malty, hoppy, somewhat sweet and fruity, pretty hot peppery. This one was a bit of a mishmash, and although it was unique, it was a bit chaotic holistically.

Deep with a bit of tartness that fades quickly. Citrus, yeast, and spice. Very smooth in the finish, however. You can feel some strength to it, but it’s not an overwhelming alcohol presence.

Bottle from Capone’s. Dark amber pour with no head. Lemony aromas pervade. Taste is thin. Hides the alcohol well but isn’t very dry/complex. Almost like a big witbier.
