Seventeen is a Saison Ale brewed with pink peppercorns, orange zest, lemon zest, and grapefruit zest. Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% abv or more, Seventeen weighs in at a style-obliterating 10.5% abv. Seventeen releases subtle notes of fruit, berry and pepper upon pouring. You’ll notice a balanced sweetness with a touch of citrus and spice with a dry and peppery finish.
Seventeen is a once-and-done release only and will not be here for long! This style of beer should age very, very well. Be sure to get some before it’s gone!

A little sticky on the palate. Definitely sweet, but not too bad. Tastes fruity but cannot nail down which fruity. Really tastes like a Belgian triple with abut too much candied sugar. Good but not great. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an orange yellow with a slight white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast and some citrus. Some white lacing down the glass. Oily feel but nothing special.

Fabulous spicy sweet flavor. This is excellent. I just saw it was retired and am now disappointed.

12oz bottle, from Jungle Jim’s in Eastgate. Hazy yellow orange color. Yeast chunks in the bottom. Thin white head. Couple dots and ropes of lace. Very nice zesty, citrusy flavor, light spice. Some baked banana bread. Love the taste, assertive, light bitter, lot of zest, pleasant amount of alcohol twang, and the perfect level of sweet. Bigger body. Light, kind of crisp carbonation. Surprisingly easy to sip. Awesome, bold saison. Drinking great at the moment

Traded bottle floating around the cellar (had no idea this had so relatively few ratings or I would have rated it earlier). Pours a hazy gold color with a bubbly white head. Lighter than expected aroma of fruit and yeast. Wow, the flavor something akin to an imperial saison. Flavorful but a little too booze forward for me.

Pours a medium honey in color with chunks of yeast and other particles floating around. Aromas of lemon/orange peel, coriander, and slight pepper. Flavors step it up from aromas with lemon/orange peel upfront, hay, slight alcohol in the back, and a slight faint hint of pepper. Medium bitter all the way to finish. Slight sour note. Light to medium sweet. Expected more with this one. The alcohol is well subdued in flavors as you can only faintly notice it.

August 2012. Bottle. Pours straw yellow with a short while head. Aromas of citrus, grass, yeast and spice. While there are some saison style elements in the beer, the high alcohol is a bit over the top for this kind of beer. Guess you don’t know till you try.

Indiscriminate spice and fruit flavor, citrus dominant with a hint of hops, doesn’t quite come together. Not bad, but not too good either.

12oz bottle. Not a great effort. Some funk on the nose with citrus. Taste is citrus, cloves, and a shit ton of booze. Far too boozy for a delicate style like this. It just kills the flavors that appear to be there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks hopdog). Looks good for the style; a cloudy orange with thin white lacing. Smells solid; Belgian yeast, citrus, hops, and pepper. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel (especially for the abv). Solid beer.
