COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seventeen is a Saison Ale brewed with pink peppercorns, orange zest, lemon zest, and grapefruit zest. Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% abv or more, Seventeen weighs in at a style-obliterating 10.5% abv. Seventeen releases subtle notes of fruit, berry and pepper upon pouring. You’ll notice a balanced sweetness with a touch of citrus and spice with a dry and peppery finish.
Seventeen is a once-and-done release only and will not be here for long! This style of beer should age very, very well. Be sure to get some before it’s gone!

Bottle to snifter (shared with the Mrs.; thanks hopdog). Looks good for the style; a cloudy orange with thin white lacing. Smells solid; Belgian yeast, citrus, hops, and pepper. Tastes like it smells with a nice, smooth mouthfeel (especially for the abv). Solid beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow. Nose of citrus, sweet, fruity, a hint of spice. Taste of sweet fruit and a bit of spice. Has a nice malt balance. Pretty good. Surprised this was a saison.

12oz. bottle, cellar aged for 1 year. Fruity, sweet and floral aroma, spicy and sugary with notes of melon, pineapple, banana, honey and citrus, some faint clove and dried flowers in the background as well. Lightly hazy light-medium golden in color, very carefully poured off of any sediment (which was because it was quite a lot) to keep it as clear as possible in the glass, and managing a very fine, uneven, white head and fine lacing to match. Flavor profile is richly sweet, fruity, spicy, estery and malty with a hint of warming alcohol appearing at the finish, showing more tropical fruit, clove, and faint pepper towards the end. Mouthfeel is thick, heavy and full on the palate, slightly creamy with a low degree of effervescence, body is also substantial. Certainly a liberal and high-gravity take on the style.

Hazy yellow beer with a short white head. Aroma is heavily spiced with pepper, lots of orange and lemon peel and some yeast. Taste is very full of spice...too much so,. Lots of pepper and lots of booze. Not a really great balance for me, but interesting none the less.

Bottle (12 oz). Thanks John! Unclear straw/golden with a small diminishing white head and no lacing. Aroma is of orange peel, lemon, peppercorn, alcohol, yeast and slight fruits. Taste is moderately sweet with a strong alcohol and spices presence, orange peel, malt, lemon and yeast. Spicy finish. Heavy body. Dry and hot. Too much alcohol and spices for my liking (maybe a tad overdone) but still a good beer. Not so drinkable for a Saison though.

Bottled. Poured clear, lighter straw golden with a short, uniform white head. The aroma picked up a hefty dose of orange peel and peppercorn with honey behind.. some lavender and black pepper accents.. big, but quite well done. The flavor found sweet, strong honey at the core with citrus zest, peppercorns, and meaty floral notes laced throughout.. tangy citrus and peppery notes on the long, slightly-syrupy, belly-warming finish. Heavier-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. bordering on heavy-handed, but I enjoyed the way it came together.

Bottle. Cloudy golden with small head. I’ve had really good luck with Weyerbacher, but this is way overdone. Boozy and over spiced.

Bottle. Hazy orange pour with minimal head that fades quickly. Nose has lemon, banana, and yeast. Dear lord, finish is a muddled candy mess. This is no saison in my book. Improved slightly after sitting a bit, but no thx.

Amazing lemon yellow pour with hazy yeasty’s floating amist. Head is white and is only present under a heavy pour. Taste is grassy, wheaty, orange corriander spice ginger and lemon Zest. Palate lingers on anise malts probably from use of maris(?). Excellent taste alcohol is well hidden. Shame its my last one.

Wish I would have picked up another 4 pack. Pours deep yellow and can immediately smell citrus. It definitely as the saison alcohol bite but great overall taste
