COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seventeen is a Saison Ale brewed with pink peppercorns, orange zest, lemon zest, and grapefruit zest. Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% abv or more, Seventeen weighs in at a style-obliterating 10.5% abv. Seventeen releases subtle notes of fruit, berry and pepper upon pouring. You’ll notice a balanced sweetness with a touch of citrus and spice with a dry and peppery finish.
Seventeen is a once-and-done release only and will not be here for long! This style of beer should age very, very well. Be sure to get some before it’s gone!

12 oz bottle - pours cloudy yellow-orange, smallish white head, diminishing. Big lemon-peel and grapefruit notes on the nose. Little bit of pepper and bready yeast. Taste is all bread and spice, with a bit of dry fruit at the finish. A bit of heat with the youth. OK, not the best of theirs I’ve had the pleasure trying.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep amber/golden with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, spicy yeast, light fruits, a little pepper, and floral hops. The flavor has the elements of a saison but they’re buried under everything else. Thicker texture. An interesting beer, but I feel like they tried to do too much.

Bottle. Cloudy gold beer with suspended matter. Thin white head. Assertive sweet and fruit aroma, medium body. Long lasting finish with lots of flavor. Good, complex brew.

Poured from a bottle, hazy yellow color with thin white head. Aroma of the citrus variety, earthy. The taste is thicker than typical saisons, slightly bitter or spicey aftertaste. Not my favorite, but I was surprised at the high ABV. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured orange/gold with a thin white head. Citrus aroma barely noticeable. Taste is bitter oranges with a little bit of grass. Decent.

Cloudy, golden amber colored body, was nice to look at. There wasn’t a big head, as it rose up to one finger thick at most, and then died down fairly quickly. The smell had a lot of citric character, which is understandable considering the use of grapefruit, lemon, and orange peel. There was also a hint of floral hops. The first taste is where this beer really started to excel for me. There was an explosion of sweet and citric flavors as soon as the beer touched my tongue, and as I swallowed it, there was a lingering spicy-herbal finish with a slight numbing sensation, which I suspect resulted from the pink peppercorns. The body was medium dense, which is pretty typical for a Saison. I wish that the beer was more carbonated, as it would have improved the feel significantly. Although the spices used are unusual, this was a typical sweetish Saison.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Troegs Saison glass. Purchased at whole foods Devon. Pours a blah hazy gold. Plenty of yeast at the bottom of the bottle. Little head and zero lacing. Vert nice Belgian aroma with spices, dough, coriander, and flowers/honey. Mouthfeel is too carbonated and kinda slick due to the high abv. Taste is actually very Saison- like. Weird huh? At 10%+ it still tastes like a Saison. Very much like the smell, floral, rose water, syrup and hibiscus. Overall a solid beer. I couldn't deal with more than one a month but I did like it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Cloudy golden color with a steady medium white head and some floating particles. Super Belgian yeasty nose, with sweet fruitiness, some alcohol and floral hops. Big citrus flavors, grapefruit mostly, super sweet maltiness, low bitterness from hops, but some present from the peels. Heavy, full bodied, creamy, alcoholic, cloying and hard to consume. Celebratory but far from exciting.
