COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Seventeen is a Saison Ale brewed with pink peppercorns, orange zest, lemon zest, and grapefruit zest. Brewed to the classic “Weyerbacher anniversary requirement” of a strength of 10% abv or more, Seventeen weighs in at a style-obliterating 10.5% abv. Seventeen releases subtle notes of fruit, berry and pepper upon pouring. You’ll notice a balanced sweetness with a touch of citrus and spice with a dry and peppery finish.
Seventeen is a once-and-done release only and will not be here for long! This style of beer should age very, very well. Be sure to get some before it’s gone!

Smells like a wit......pours with no head. TONS of floaters. Tastes good at first, but the aftertaste is pure bitter alcohol. I’m not a fan.

Bought at the store, not sure how old, over a year for sure. Hazy tangerine golden, fast dissipating white head. Nose is pretty citrusy, with some tangerine and orange peel, pink rose pedals, and gentle barn-blonde saison maltiness. The flavor is pretty tangerine-ish and citrusy and leafy, some light pepper tones, a bit of grapefruit rind, zesty citrus tones, strong wheaty booze esters. It basically tastes the way it’s advertised, an imperial saison with a light bit of peppercorn and a moderate flavor of citrus zest.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white soapy head recedes to mottle surface. Sweet caramel, summer fruit and citrus aromas. Well balanced and still a little hot with toffee, peaches and spicy yeast upfront turning to bitter earth in the warm, lasting finish.

From a bottle. Pours opaque amber gold with lots of particles floating around, a creamy frothy white head, and lots of lacing. Tastes like lemony citrus, wheat, lavender, pine, herbs. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like herbs, lemon, wheat, bread, and alcohol.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with creamy off-white head. Aroma is cereal malts, floral notes, black pepper, lemon zest, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is chewy bready malts, spice, light floral hops, citrus fruit esters, and booze; dry finish. Medium/full body and low carbonation.

Appearance: Cloudy orange breads under a fluffy pithy head which fades with arcs of lace marking the glass. Lingers as a bubbly pithy puddle in the middle.
Nose: Coriander and cumin. Orange peel. Green banana peel. Golden brown crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on inside, French and Italian artisanal breads. Candied ginger. Spicy husked grains. Rye seeds and star fruit.
Palate: Spicy, tropical, yeasty, and of the harvest. Green bananas, plantains, and whole pineapples. Lots of spice and prickly tropical fruits in the back. Candied ginger and cumin. Faint grains of paradise.
Final Thoughts: A solid Saison, Weyerbacher’s Seventeen hit all the right notes, bringing to mind the harvest with a hint of tropical notes. I’d gladly drink another.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton, always fun to try these anniversary beers. Hazy gold in colour with a small white head. Smooth palate, a little soft. Floral yeast and sweet generic fruits, tinned. Mild spice. Light crisp finish. Tasty.

Bottle thanks to Leightonian. It pours hazy golden orange with a small white head. The nose is orange, nectarine, apricot, hay, toast, light vanilla, wood and spice. The taste is crisp, orange, tangerine, sherbet, alcohol heat, spice, toasty coconut, vanilla and wood with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit hot perhaps, but it still makes for a interesting and enjoyable drinking experience.

Bottle cheers to Leighton. Golden pour with a big white head. Looks great. Nose is full of herbal hops, lemon curd, leafy greenery, grass, yeast, lemon morange and light funk. Taste has loads of lemon curd, lemon tart, pepper and spice, grassy hops. Alcohol shows itself with quite a bit of warmth although isn’t too bad for the abv. Spices right on the back end. Solid stuff
