3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Expectation: So far Weyerbacher has impressed me, but the style has been hit or miss.
Hardware: 12oz bottle into Le Duvel.
Nose: wildflower, lush fields, citrus peel, black pepper, and grass
Sip: booze, caramel, slight nuttiness (from age?),
Taste: sweeter than the style usually is but that’s probably due to the high ABV
Misc: dry to the lips but cloys in the throat. Slight grapefruit aftertaste
Conclusion: a strong beer with lots of aroma but taste dominated by the sweetness. Quality all around but this is too aggressive.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transfer from BA review on 7-25-12-
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – It was served a light orange color with a tiny white head. The head disappeared quickly leaving almost no lacing.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of sweet citrus. Notes of orange, tangerine and a sweeter lemon are all there. Mixed with this is a lighter aroma of grapefruit as well as a good Belgian yeasty and spice aroma. As expected for a 10.5 % abv brew, there is also a light presence of an alcohol aroma as well.
Taste – The taste begins with the fruit sweetness. The fruit is of banana, orange, and some lemon. These flavors are mixed with a yeasty flavor right up front. As the taste moves on some of the spicy flavors come to the tongue, with a decent presence of pepper and clove. The alcohol that was detected in the nose then hits the scene. It starts out weaker, but as the taste goes on it a bit stronger, but never comes to a very potent taste. In the light alcohol mixed with the spiced fruit flavors leaves a sweet warming feel on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the thicker side with a carbonation level that is just below average. Both suit the fruity and spiced flavors of the beer quite well.
Overall – At 10.5 % this was a very easy to drink and pleasant brew. A very nice saison if I would say.

Bottle. Pours a slightly clouded golden yellow color with a minimal head. Good bit of floating sediment dispersed throughout. Aroma is spiced and sweet. Flavor is sweet and peppery up front with orange and grapefruit zest and slight bitterness on the tail end. Some warming from the high alcohol, but overall fairly well hidden.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A lot going on with this beer. Super cloudy yellow/gold pour with next to no head. Spice of pepper, slight funk of saison yeast, orange zesty in nose and flavor. Unique alcohol warmth for a saison, but fun. Nice twist on the style.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bought at the store, not sure how old, over a year for sure. Hazy tangerine golden, fast dissipating white head. Nose is pretty citrusy, with some tangerine and orange peel, pink rose pedals, and gentle barn-blonde saison maltiness. The flavor is pretty tangerine-ish and citrusy and leafy, some light pepper tones, a bit of grapefruit rind, zesty citrus tones, strong wheaty booze esters. It basically tastes the way it’s advertised, an imperial saison with a light bit of peppercorn and a moderate flavor of citrus zest.

Pours deep gold into a tulip. Bright white soapy head recedes to mottle surface. Sweet caramel, summer fruit and citrus aromas. Well balanced and still a little hot with toffee, peaches and spicy yeast upfront turning to bitter earth in the warm, lasting finish.
