Caramel, crystal, munich and chocolate malts form a rich foundation for this dark and complex ale. Brewed with an absurd amount of honey from Pennsylvania bees, this braggot has a profound honey character and a nice warming finish. It is the perfect beer to celebrate our sweet sixteen.

pours a hazy deep brown with minimal head. aromas of dark fruits, raisins, honey and toffee. its a medium bodied brew with an oily texture and slight astringency. carbonation is moderate. its very sweet as expected but its balanced by significant bitterness. I get a lot of chocolate and raisin flavors from the malts. finishes with some alcohol warmth and steady bitterness. still a very strong ale. has not mellowed after 5+ years of cellaring

Brown. There’s some toasty, chocolate syrup malts. Sticky, with a mapley note. There is a sticky, almost mapley note. The palate is quite sticky, with a rich toffee character, light honey, and a hit of maple. Not particularly refined, but a honeyish barley wine.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma is fairly oxidized, with bready malt, fermented out honey, and light toast. Flavour brings out medium honey, bready malt and toasted notes. Light sweetness on the finish. Not overly complex but it works. Pretty good for five years old.

A deep dark reddish brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with loads of dark fruits, honey, fruit cocktail, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet boozy braggot with honey, dark fruits, chocolate notes, molasses, nice mouth feel, still solid.

Bottle (12 oz). From John, thanks!

Appearance: Deep amber-brown with a small bubbly beige head and no lacing.

Aroma: Honey, chocolate, caramel, light spiciness and a touch of dark fruits.

Taste: Very sweet, cloying. There’s honey sweetness, but also sugary notes. Chocolate, caramel, alcohol/boozy presence, dark fruits and light spiciness.

Palate: Medium body. Almost no carbonation. A bit oily. Chocolate-y and boozy finish.

Overall: Unbalanced. Too sweet. A bit burning. Despite a good amount of flavor, this one finds the way to be boring. Very hard to drink, even for a sipper.
