Caramel, crystal, munich and chocolate malts form a rich foundation for this dark and complex ale. Brewed with an absurd amount of honey from Pennsylvania bees, this braggot has a profound honey character and a nice warming finish. It is the perfect beer to celebrate our sweet sixteen.

(bottle - 12 oz) Deep copper pour with a tan head. Medicinal and harsh aroma. Lots of alcohol and overly ripe dark fruits. Flavor is medicinal as well. Lots of sweetness with a super sweet finish. Maybe itís the style or maybe it turned.

Bottle. 5/12/14. Pours a cloudy red-brown with a thin, creamy off-brown head. Aroma is dark fruits, wood, caramel, chocolate, vanilla, honey, red grapes, alcohol. Taste is smooth, clean, dry; chocolate, caramel, alcohol, some smoke, leather, oak; finish is leather, dark fruit, caramel. Some nice lacing. Medium-full bodied. Low carbonation. Interesting. Tasty and uncommon. Nice.

Bottle, thanks to Jstax. Dark chestnut in color with a thin ring of creamy beige head. Nose is unassuming, malty, and sweet. Light honey is evident. Good balance of malt to sweet, light roast, and honey. Lingering sticky finish. Not a style (braggot) that Iím very familiar with, so itís hard to tell, but good for what it is, I think.

Backlog bottle thanks to so many good ratebeerians. The look is clear, thin tan head, and brown in color. The smell is caramel, sweet, fruits, and honey. The taste is sweet, alcohol, honey, and eh.

Thanks Clint. Dark brown with a solid sheet of peanut foam. Smells like honey (as the label says), and profoundly so; there are some nougat and raisin notes in the nose as well. There are some nice things going on with the malt here, some graham (again, in the nose). Tastes sweet and...makes my face twitch. Whew, way too sweet with nasty acetone and alcohol flavors. The raisins in the nose come thru here with a fury, and with brown sugar and granola. I really donít dig this profile. Thin with heavy carb. Semi dry finish. This beer is substantially more disappointing than I had expected. I really am hit and miss with Weyerbacher, but this is not appropriate for my mouth. Serving type: bottle 12-31-2011

12 oz. bottle. Pours deep dark brown almost black with a sudsy frothy khaki head that dissipates to a thin soapy film and lingering lacing. Aroma is rich roasted malt some licorice coming through and underlying coffee/cocoa scents. Not really any noticeable honey scents. Taste has more anise/licorice flavors with honey roasted malt slight smokiness and hidden coffee peanut brittle some chocolate/toffee. Palate is full slightly sticky good carbonation and a warming dry finish. As this warms the honey really shows well along with some spice and alcohol. Pretty tasty!
