CheersMate1 (770), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Oct 6, 2008 Very malty/fruity flavor. I am trying to pinpoint the aroma, it is not very pungent, but I can smell the dark fruits and malts. Decent aroma. The it not a hop smell at all. I think I almost smell a banana-type aroma. The beer really has no head. At first, it did, but it faded away rather quickly Dark caramel brown in color. It is opaque. Kind of a toasted malt/fruit flavor. Toffee notes are in the beer. The beer is semi-creamy. The beer has some nice flavors. The toffee comes out a lot more when the beer warms up. Overall, a fairly good beer with some nice toasted and toffee flavors. A fairly fruity/malty aroma. Pretty decent brew. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 5, 2008 22oz bottle, shared with Luke, its not bad, not great, clove malt caramel typical things i expected, tastes pretty good as it warms up a bit.. and @ 7% its not going to hurt you at all. JPDIPSO (4865), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 2, 2008 Hazy dark umber color with a smallish, but stable bone colored head. Bananas, cocoa and wheat scents. Some bubblegum, circus peanuts and hint of smoke as well in the background. Initial flavors are quite favorable, with toasted malt and wheat, light cloves and fruit. This get very spicy in the middle to the finish with sharp spices, nearly a sharp ginger type nip. WIthout the strong finish this is a great brew. Perhaps the numbing effect of the alcohol are kicking in, but this does seem to mellow with time and warmth. Yet a weizen should not need to mellow with warmth, I digress. Some touches of butter and popcorn. I have to say I like it with some minor reservations. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Oct 1, 2008 Bottle. a cloudy brown body with a tan head. Lots of spices fruit citrus, banana, and clove. A decent offering. Decent. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Sep 30, 2008 Bottle shared by either Springslicker or decaturstevo. Whoever, thanks.. Poured a hazy brown with a creamy off-white head that settles to a ring and leaves light lace. Sweet aroma of raisin, brown sugar, and light spices. The flavor finds a nice malt, banana, and light spice mix. Medium body, dry, sweet throughout. Nice! GodOfThunder (855), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2008 It pours a cloudy brown. Real cloudy with a nice thick white head.
Smell is of wheat and bananas. The banana smell is real strong in this one.
The bananas continue into the taste. There’s a little kick from the alcohol in the back, but mostly you get the sweetness from the banana. This is a tasty brew, and possibly one of the best dunkels I’ve ever had.
There’s a little sour taste in your mouth afterwards, but another sip of the sweetness can cure that. I’m really enjoying this.
Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Sep 28, 2008 Bomber. Hazy root beer pour with a big off white head. Big malt and wheat nose, light spice and bubblegum. Nice flavor of wheat and caramel, coriander and clove, light banana. Lighter body than expected, excellent lace rings. Even at 7%, drinks like a session beer, which is dangerous. A decent offering from Weyerbacher, and I don’t say that often. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 27, 2008 22oz bottle-pours a rich tan head with trailing lace and murky brown with orange color. Aroma is clove, sweet medium malt-caramel, banana, some sharp wet/raw wheat, alcohol clashes a bit, doughy. Taste is boozy, which after ½ pint fades some. Clove, sweet medium malt-caramel, banana, wet/raw wheat, alcohol, some sharp/earthy hops bite.
