daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Aug 22, 2008 Bottle, from Brother Tuckers. Nice brown pour with a great light beige head. Aroima is malt, banana, cloves, and yeast, Flavor is malty as hell...bananas, spices, bread, sweetness, and not much hops to speak of at all...great beer. Homebrewerguy (284), Oil City, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 20, 2008 pours heady and dark as a bock should be, wheat and yeast notes come through in the aroma, first taste is of wheat with the yeast following up, hops are mild but right for style, beautiful beer, first rate. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam Aug 20, 2008 Cloudy brown with large tan head. Sweet malty aroma mingled with hefe yeast banana esters. Not sticky, is a soft, gentle mothfeel. More chocolate than expected like a chocolate-covered banana beer, or a chocolate ice cream with banana or a health shake with chocolate and banana. Pleasant even if not sublime, tending toward dessert-like heaviness. Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA Aug 19, 2008 Draught.
Solid dunkel... everything these boys brew is golden. Malt dominated, hops are subdued, a nice session beer... Homer321 (127), Rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2008 swirled and poured from a bomber into a pint glass. nose is banana and bread. slight caramel in nose and taste. a hint of chocolate. hops are not obvious, enough to balance the higher alcohol. overall a nice beer I would drink again. TheBeerGod (3143), Newport News, Virginia, USA Aug 18, 2008 Bottle. Cola-like brown pour with an enormous tan head. Nose is banana, cocoa, caramel, dark fruits, and candy. Taste is soft spices, banana, dark fruit, bubblegum, caramel, dusty cocoa, yeast and wheat notes. Body is creamy and smooth but has lots of carbonation and a light-medium overall feel. The finish echoes more banana, spices, wheat and yeast, while the cocoa and candy become more subdued. There’s some hop bitterness coming through and surprisingly some light alcohol warmth. Overall, though, this is a rather tasty weizen bock, Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Aug 18, 2008 Dark muddy brown with a big head. Chocolatey malt aroma with some dark fruits (grape, apple, raisin) and light bubblegum phenols. Very soft body, a little oily, with low carbonation. Slightly toasted with dark fruit. Solid, functional dessert beer and rendition of the Aventinus concept. WeeHeavySD (2941), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 13, 2008 Bomber, always happy to hit up some Weyerbacher. A Style so rarely done well in the US, I’m happy to try one that has potential. Pours dark brown with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and malty. Taste is sweet and malty with a clove and a banana back bone. Overall a tasty brew and a good fit for the style.
