Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 9, 2008 murky brown with a light brown head.super sticky sweet malt aroma, with some earth shining through in the background.flavor is much of the same with a peppery and over carbonated finish. rajendra82 (698), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA Aug 9, 2008 I chose a half liter Weizen glass for sampling Slam Dunkel today, and the beer came out bronze colored, hazy, and with three finger tall head. The aroma was like a bread baked with bananas, as the doughy smell of the malt mingled with the phenolic esters. Taste was sweet, bready, and gooey, with clove and pepper undercurrents. A little more medicinal and metallic than I would have preferred in the finish, with some herbal hops breaking through. Light and fizzy on the tongue, with a short lived spicy finish. Likable and refreshing, but a little too by the numbers in the approach. grandet (477), Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2008 Bottle from Coopers. Earthy brown pour with a nice fluffy off white head. Head lasted. Aroma is of strong clove and malt. Also some banana. Taste is lots of clove and banana as well as some alcohol. Very enjoyable. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 8, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours dark, dark mahogany with a big rocky tan head that lingers for quite a while, leaving good lacing. Aroma is big on dark fruits on top of the wheat backbone with abundant fruity sweetness, mainly bananas and vanilla. Taste has a big bready background but with tons of fruits on top. There is also plenty of malt in the taste as well and everything is very well balanced. The mouthfeel is creamy with lots of carbonation and leaves the tongue tingling a bit after each sip. This is a very unique beer and one that I enjoyed thoroughly. Recommended. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 7, 2008 Pours an ultra-cloudy almond brown with amber edges and a frothy cream coloured head. The aroma is most akin to chocolate-covered banana and heavy clove, fresh-baked bread along with other fruity esters, but banana/clove is dominant. The flavour is identical to the nose with the addition of heavily wheated and bready malts, and is very intense and rich. The bitterness is nice and subtle, but enough to keep from being cloyingly sweet. The mouthfeel is full and velvety. Very nice example of the style. Chia (42), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 7, 2008 pours a medium white head and is a light murky doodoo brown. smells of clove and hints of banana with light chocolate. Taste like wheat, and clove with subtle undertones of chocolate and banana. argo0 (6861), Washington DC, USA Aug 6, 2008 (22oz bottle) Large off-white head atop murky brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, banana, cantaloupe, some wheat, light clove. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, banana, light caramel, clove. Soft medium body, alcohol shows through a little bit. dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 4, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Naka, shared with Nate. Pours brown with amber hues, cloudy with minimal head, rimming and off-white. Nose is banana and clove with slight lemony citrus. Taste is slight roast, lots of dirty caramel sweetness along with banana and slight spice with a citrus/sour finish. Tasty and dry. Not bad, but not what I was expecting
