The taste is wheat, clove, and something else. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2008 bomber. hazy dark brown and orange color. large foamy tan head. nice aroma of pear, cloves, wheat and bubblegum. thin to medium palate. a sweet cocoa and vanilla taste up front then a light earthy bitter finish of cloves, wheat and bananas. jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Jul 26, 2008 22oz bomber. The beer pours cloudy and brown/orange in color with a thick, short-lived, tan head. The aroma features dark-toasted bread, some spicy phenols (definitely more pepper than clove), and a wonderful mix of chocolate, caramel, and toffee. The flavor has subtle fruit - banana with a light touch of citrus. There is also a taste of wheat in there, but it is not that upfront (especially for a dunkelweizen). There is a very big flavor of toffee - and chocolate-covered caramels. At mid-tongue the beer gets a little spicier. The finish is full with spice, alcohol, and rich malts. The mouthfeel is very full - almost chewy. The carbonation is very strong and accents the spicy phenols. Overall, a great beer - very rich in malt character and very drinkable despite the warm weather and big, full body.
