JFURYCAT (782), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 Banana and clove spices figure prominently in this wheaty brew which is an easy drinker. There are shades of lemon, grain, clove and chocolate malt in here. The palate is a bit on the wet side despite a tasty complexity inherent in this beer. I think I might prefer this over the Troeganator. Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 25, 2008 From bottle courtesy of dpjuart. Odd malty nose, sweet with some interesting tang. Kinda funky, with some banana-lemon notes, bit of grassy-herbal hops. Band-Aid? Dark brow hazy, with thin off-white lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet and with some tang. Graham cracker and cinnamon, sourish tang, carbonic acidity. Oxidation flavors, too. Mild spicy bitter finish, with biscuit and astrnigency. Odd taste profiles. joeymacaroni (181), West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 22, 2008 22 oz bomber from state line into a tulip glass. pours hazy deep brown with a thick tan head. aroma is complex with lots of banana nut bread, caramel, and citrusy notes of orange and tangerine. flavor is big and spicy and deep. banana and clove are there, but also wheat, bubblegum, and more breadiness. very spicy. thick and oily, goes down soft. not too much bitterness. aftertaste is citrus and wheat with woody caramel notes. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Jul 21, 2008 Calling this beer unattractive is an understatement. It looks like filthy mud with a thin film of head on top. Banana jumps out when you sniff this one and jabs you in the eye. It’s backed up with a troubling rubbery smell. This one is fine as a rather fruity dunkelweizen except for an unfortunate rubber and metallic thing in the middle that is really rather faint. I would like more chocolate notes in something like this. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2008 Pours ruddy deep brown with khaki head. Nose is prune, banana, fig, brown sugar, caramel malt. Tastes malty, with notes of chocolate, brown sugar, figgy fruit, and some spicy peppery notes. Unique and enjoyable. edmedina (19), Chesterfield, Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2008 It pours a muddy brown. I swear this is the same thing that I saw at the beach this week. Nothing clear in here. It gives about 1 or 2 fingers worth of head showing off some carbonation here. The aroma is a banana creamy malty smell. It’s hard to really pinpoint one particular item. On first sip I can definitely taste the wheat in there. It’s like a really good wheat bread in beer form. Some caramel is present. I also detect other spice in there but I honestly can’t say what I am tasting. It reminds me of a "smaller" Belgian. It is definitely a great beer to try. As it gets warmer the beer’s characteristics really shine through. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2008 Bottle on 07/19/2008. Murky brown body with a medium frothy off-white head. Fruity, malty, caramel and banana aroma. Caramel and spice flavor with fresh bananas. Medium full body with moderate carbonation. Ibrew2or3 (2714), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 Courtesy of fishingnet. Pours mildly hazy deep copper with tan head. The aroma is dates, prunes, mild pepper and clove spice. The taste begins mildly tart moving quickly to dark fruitiness from dates, prunes, raisins, some pepper to go along with spices like cloves. In the background I get a small river of malty sweetness and wheat notes. Wow, lots of flavors going on here.
