Slam Dunkel was a small batch release in 2007. We had such an overwhelming response that we had to put it in the seasonal rotation. We also decided, as brewers, we couldn’t live without drinking this beer every year! This 7% Double Dunkelweizen is unfiltered and made with over 50% wheat malt along with pale, munich, and a touch of chocolate to give it the traditional color and flavor. Bitterness is subdued to allow the Weihenstephen yeast to shine through with those traditional notes of banana and clove. Available in June in bottles and draft. Recipe by Chris Wilson, Head Brewer.

Bottle. Pours brown with a tan head, good retention/some lace. Aroma of banana, clove, toast, dark fruit, wheat. Taste is banana, wheat, chocolate, light licorice, earth. Palate is soft, creamy, average carbonation. Refreshing.

I’m starting to like this style of beer. The pour reveals a cloudy brown body with a thin and creamy head. Aromas are floral hops, sulfur, clove and a very delicate hint of vanilla. The mouth feel was sticky and almost thick - full of banana, dried citrus and lightly roasted malts. Finishes well with a lingering hop bitterness followed by soft toffee notes.

(bottle). A beautiful dark brown and unfiltered complexion with creamy white head. Lots of dried fruit in flavor. Not my favorite style beer but well done ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2012 Gorgeous appearance. Murky red with an off-white head, looks like apple cider. Aroma of lemon, wheat, grass and light hops. Taste is lemon, yeast, grass and earthy hops. Light body with a sticky palate and a tangy finish.

Poura an opaque chectnut color with a medium tan head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity with mild clovey and bubblegum notes...just a bit wheaty. Flavor has malty sweetness...earthy with some fig and wheaty notes...a bit candi sugary. Mouthfeel is full and the finish is earthy and yeasty with light bitterness.

Probably the best dark wheat beer I’ve had. The appearance is grainy due to being unfiltered, which is a bit off-putting, but the flavor profile blows up in your mouth and make it happy.

Dark brown colour and unclear. Has an off-white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma has clear acidic notes, faint yeasty laqurice. Flavor is sweet, fatty, creamy, moderate bitter finish. Light acidic. Dry, creamy texture and lively carboantion.
