Commercial Description:
Slam Dunkel was a small batch release in 2007. We had such an overwhelming response that we had to put it in the seasonal rotation. We also decided, as brewers, we couldn’t live without drinking this beer every year! This 7% Double Dunkelweizen is unfiltered and made with over 50% wheat malt along with pale, munich, and a touch of chocolate to give it the traditional color and flavor. Bitterness is subdued to allow the Weihenstephen yeast to shine through with those traditional notes of banana and clove. Available in June in bottles and draft. Recipe by Chris Wilson, Head Brewer.

A dark brown hazy beer with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is yeast, bread, spice, some light fruit. Flavor is more fruit, yeast, sweet molasses, nuts, malt. Fairly heavy mouthfeel for a weizen. Not a true success, in my mind, but an interesting beer.

Decent brew. Pours a rich caramel color with thin white head. Bread, clove and caramel prevalent in the aroma. Spicy, biting on the tongue with a sweet tofee finish.

22. Thanks, BVC! Pours cloudy amber with a thin off-white head. Not bad but seems to be kind of one-dimensional.

22. Thanks, BVC! Pours an opaque dark brown with mild toffee highlights. Dense, creamy tan head. Roasty, toasty, brown bready nose. Creamy medium body, prickly carb. Toasty, roasty mid-palate, with brown bread, nuts, and dryish toffee notes. Long toffee finish.

pours copper, off white head. Aroma and taste, dark fruits (figs), some grains; wheat, caramel. Some lingering sugary apricots and nectarine. A fairly decent weizen bock.

I don’t remember anything about this beer. I don’t think it was great or bad. I like the beers from this brewery so there’s that on top of that. Had it at beerfest.
