This bock has a really sweet fruity aroma with some caramel, bread and spices. Taste is almost as good as the smell... caramel, fruits, nuts, wheat and a hint of cloves. The mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side but i must add it’s very pleasant to drink. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2009 Bottle courtesy of Bill, thanks! Pours a hazy brown with a thin light tan head. The nose is sweet! Canned fruit cocktail, of all things, and caramel, toffee, some banana, but most of the esters remind me of Dole fruit cocktail in syrup! Some light toast, perhaps a hint of chocolate. Full creamy body, particularly after the addition of yeast. Medium low carbonation. Sweet caramel and toffee over some fruity esters, a little reminiscent of the fruit cocktail, but more in the banana-apple-clove neighborhood now. A little spicy. Alcohol is almost perceptible. The caramel in this beer really comes through more than I can immediately recall in any other single beer. Sharp fruit ester finish reminds me of caramel apples. Lingering spice. This is a lovely after dinner drink, but I’m a sucker for the style. Perhaps a bit too sweet to drink a whole bottle. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2009 Bomber bottle and served in my Aventinus glassware: Deep russet brown with a small but lasting creamy beige head which left good lacework upon the glass. The aroma has notes of clove, banana bread, wheat husks, fig, earthy and tannic esters, and a hint of brown sugar, smoked nuts and even red wine. Very nice nose indeed, among the best I have encountered within the genre. The taste is a bit of a letdown after the smell but still provides part doppellbock and part hefeweizen on a mostly level playing field. I like the twangy fruit and spice intercourse that broadens the sweet malt palate. It is the finish that is chalky and minerally that seems to be the object of my displeasure. The initial mouth feel is quite lively and refreshing for the style but like I said the chalky nature nature of the finish does wear on you. Is it the equal to the very best examples of the style, well no. However I would say that all in all, more than a acceptable Weizenbock. bu11zeye (5442), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2009 The flavor is very fruity and sweet, but the sweetness is balanced by an unexpected sour flavor. It’s similar to the flavors present in a strong belgian ale, and it doesn’t really remind me of any German-style beers that I’ve ever had before. I don’t taste much wheat at all, and it’s very light on the hops as well. But the malts are more than enough to give the beer a good deal of complexity. Overall I really enjoyed it. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2009 Attrractive deep red ruby color, thin white head. The aroma is strictly toasted malts, malts. not bad, but not enticing. The flavor is a differnet matter. The flavor is very fruity, wheat, spicy, awesome. The finish is light in hops, and has a lingering sweetness. Medium mouthfeel. Great beer overall.
