MrBunn (1520), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 3, 2009 Bomber. Pours a dingy brown with lots of bubbles and a one finger fizzy head. Aromas are a nice enough mix of brown sugar, cloves, figs, and general yeastiness. Flavor is a pretty good mix of the sweet and yeasty stuff... brown and candi sugars are evident as are cloves... things end with a little bit of sweet fig-like fruitiness. checkmatei1 (629), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2009 Bottle: Poured a thick cloudy brown. The aroma was dark fruits and strong malts. The flavor was good, wheat, dark fruit, bananas, a small touch of spice, and a nice malty finish. Overall, another quality brew by Weyerbacher. Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jan 24, 2009 Bomber from Knightly. Poured coppery, muddy brown with a swirly dusting of tan head. The aroma picked up toasted caramel and semi-sweet chocolate with spicy floral and earthy accents.. warmth brought out a touch of brown sugar.. warm impression, and well done. The flavor opened with a fairly hefty earthy bitterness and sour wheaty impression.. the middle found brown sugar, iced tea, and toasted caramel sweetness with banana-ey esters in the background.. finished dry with more chocolate and some earthy notes.. right at the very end was a hit of serious boozy warmth. Medium-plus bodied and dry on the palate with spicy bitterness and resonant warmth.. tacky at the back with a lot of wheaty character.. OK flow to it. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2009 Blankboys bottle, shared with HogTownHarry, Jerc, Mabel and I. Appearance: Red grapefruit colour, no head. Aroma: Cinnamon, sour, alcohol, tart, a ’shoe shop’ aroma, plantains. Taste: Banana, chocolate, pine and malt. Nice shadey (1496), Rochester, New York, USA Jan 18, 2009 22oz bottle purchased at BOTW. Pours a murky brown with a thin head of creamy swirls. Aroma is very attractive; obviously malty with some dark fruit notes. Some cloves like I would expect from a dunkel weizen, but the fruits are really interesting. The flavor reveals more of both the fruits (upfront) and the cloves (in the finish). Really a fantastic job by Weyerbacher. basewars (144), Albany, New York, USA Jan 17, 2009 Pours deep mahogany with two fingers of creamy head. Aroma is tons of chocolate with candied fruits emerging as it warms. Flavor is like a malted milk ball, but, again, fruits come out later. Nice alcoholic warmth. I’ve never tasted a beer like it but I like it. chimplechamp (463), Oslo, Norway Jan 17, 2009 bottle thanks to pops- bottle pours cloudy and slightly lighter than rootbeer. white head sticks to the sides of glass but dispersses from the middle quite fast. nose is glorious, slightly smoky, strong bubblegum wheat esters, taste is berries, with some smoke in the background, and bubblegum. some sweetness to it. it is very nice. a little sweet. but wow. it is very nice. wcampbell (572), Central, South Carolina, USA Jan 17, 2009 Very good. Starts with some sweet prune taste, a little too sweet at first. The taste finishes with some roasted malts and wheat. Light carbonation and a heavy mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable. Not especially complex. Strong sweet aroma of fruit.
