Poured opaque black with two fingers of khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla and dark fruit with a bit of booziness. Taste of roasted malt and chocolate with some licorice and dark fruit. Has some spiciness and alcohol warming character but not taste. Mouthfeel is soft and full with an active carbonation. A good take on the style with some nice Belgian spicy character. ---Jeremy H

Aged for ~14 months. Pours a midnight black body with tight dark brown head. Foam stays intact and offers a decent display of lacing. Dark fruit aroma of cherries, blackberries, and figs. Banana and clove are also highly detectable. Slight metallic scent slips through the aforementioned. Robust flavors of roasted malts and dark earthy leavened bread. As it warms more fruitiness and bananas come out. Smooth, slightly sweet, coffee finish with tasty dark cocoa notes. Hint of booziness, but the carbonation and layers of complexity mask the alcohol content well. Creamy velveteen mouthfeel cut by slightly dry long-lasting finish. Undeniably a noteworthy stout that I foresee myself coming back to.

Rating from 11/20/2010....The cork popped...hee hee....Very dark brown to black in color....small brown head.....Belgian yeast and cocoa on the nose....creamy yet effervescent....not very familiar with the Belgian imperial stout as much as the north American styles.....so its difficult for me to say its true to the style.....anyway it takes a while for any of the chocolate flavors to show up....it was harsh at first but mellows out nicely with a bitter finish....liquid velvet for sure after 30 minutes

Bottle at Eulogy. Pitch black pour with minimal head, just a slim lasting ring. Big molasses and liquorice flavors of the top. Bottle started quite cold. Body noticeably thickened as it warmed. Develops some very nice dark roasted notes. Burnt macadamia nuts. Cold espresso. Dark chocolate liquor. Black peppercorns. Truffles. Well aged browned stone fruit. Peat. Some Scotch Ale qualities. Black vinyl aroma. Distinctive and refined.

[My bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel] Pours black, slightly oily looking, with a small frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, a hint of smoke, light leafy hops and yeast. Flavour: Whoa, that’s a big beer! Leafy hops, alcohol, chocolate, roasted malt and some brown sugar. Sweet bitter finish. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied. It’s good but not as good as I’d hoped.

2014-11-06. Black body with a quick tan head. 3+ Aroma is lightly alcoholic dark malt, light roast. 3+ Flavour is similar, modest alcohol, dark malt, cocoa, light roast. Lingering bitterness and alcohol. Medium bodied palate, soft to light carbonation. 3+ A bit simple, it shows promise but the alcohol is overly prominent. Bottle shared by Blankboy.

Nice aroma of roasted coffee and earthiness upon uncorking. Surprisingly well balanced for an Imperial Stout. Roasted coffee and hints of chocolate on palate. Smooth, crisp finish. Not at all hot comsidering the high ABV

Black pour with nose of dark fruits and some chocolate. Taste is same with a bright hop presence. Finish lingers nicely.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2014 Pours thick and black with a dark tan head. Aroma has notes of coffee and cocoa with raisins and an earthy smokeyness about it. Palate is very similar with a boozey aftertaste. A sipping beer for sure.

Very smooth and velvety. Really roasty and chocolate flavors. Looks great with a dark brown head.

A huge Belgian-style imperial stout. A funky nose leads to a Super duper sweet roast base. Almost too rich for my palate. Medium mouthfeel. Almost have up on this at the beginning, but in the end it rang true.
