Bottle poured a pitch black with a very small tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma includes subtle roasted malt and dark fruit notes. Taste is similarly big on vinous notes with a hint of dark chocolate and booze on the finish. Slight alcool warming on finish with dark fruit flavors lingering.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2015 Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn, (purchased directly from shop) consumed at dads, Kilburn, Derbyshire, Thursday 15th January 2015. Rather meaty in the mouth, stock cube, liquorice. Thick’ish’ in mouth a little boozy on the tip of tongue, some dark treacle and then bitter chocolate, but the meaty stock flavour reigns supreme. Its nice but it isn’t as good as I expected. Colour is black with tan head. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bomber from FLBC, Ithaca. Pours black, beautiful brown, long-lasting head. Barely any lacing. Aroma is coffee, earth, booze. Flavor is licorice, chocolate, roasted malts, hints of banana, perhaps some stone-fruit, oh, and lots of booze. Well carbonated and a pretty substantial mouthfeel. Lasting taste with the creamy finish. Pretty damn good one here.

Aged for ~14 months. Pours a midnight black body with tight dark brown head. Foam stays intact and offers a decent display of lacing. Dark fruit aroma of cherries, blackberries, and figs. Banana and clove are also highly detectable. Slight metallic scent slips through the aforementioned. Robust flavors of roasted malts and dark earthy leavened bread. As it warms more fruitiness and bananas come out. Smooth, slightly sweet, coffee finish with tasty dark cocoa notes. Hint of booziness, but the carbonation and layers of complexity mask the alcohol content well. Creamy velveteen mouthfeel cut by slightly dry long-lasting finish. Undeniably a noteworthy stout that I foresee myself coming back to.

Rating from 11/20/2010....The cork popped...hee hee....Very dark brown to black in color....small brown head.....Belgian yeast and cocoa on the nose....creamy yet effervescent....not very familiar with the Belgian imperial stout as much as the north American styles.....so its difficult for me to say its true to the style.....anyway it takes a while for any of the chocolate flavors to show up....it was harsh at first but mellows out nicely with a bitter finish....liquid velvet for sure after 30 minutes

Bottle at Eulogy. Pitch black pour with minimal head, just a slim lasting ring. Big molasses and liquorice flavors of the top. Bottle started quite cold. Body noticeably thickened as it warmed. Develops some very nice dark roasted notes. Burnt macadamia nuts. Cold espresso. Dark chocolate liquor. Black peppercorns. Truffles. Well aged browned stone fruit. Peat. Some Scotch Ale qualities. Black vinyl aroma. Distinctive and refined.
