750 ml bottle. Clear dark brown, no head or lacing. Aroma of chocolate/cocoa. Taste is smooth cocoa with a smoke edge. Straightforward.

750 ml bottle paid $12.99 but don’t remember where from. Used motor oil color with a thin ring of tan head, no lace. Aroma is dark chocolate, anise, yeast and a hint of smoke.

Flavor doesn’t have much in the way of roast but it does have anise, raisin and earthy chocolate malts with a Belgian yeast presence that lingers after the sip. A light subtle note of smoke is present after the sip but also shows a sweetness. The mouthfeel is syrupy and oily with a light hint of booze. Medium not exactly full but decent. The alcohol doesn’t distract from the flavor but man it make me feel nice and cozy in the belly!

Overall I enjoy it because of how nice it warms the Insides. If you enjoy a Belgian stout this should not be over looked. Worth a try.

I am a mildly seasoned drinker, and I can hold my beer like Hemingway. However, this "beer" was so bad it made me loose a bit of faith in mankind as a whole. If you are into bitter, nearly undrinkable fortified grog passed off as beer than this is for you, you weirdo. But if you are into an actual beer, than pick one of Weyerbacher’s other beers, they are really good. This "beer actually made me puke, that is how bad it is. Blasphemy is a much better beer by the same maker. This is how I picture motor oil to taste, and after working in a body shop for a few months I can tell you they smell the exact same, god damn it, DO NOT DRINK THIS PISS.

slight twist of cage/cork and pop with some gusto..black as night pour with a 1 finger tan head..nose is chocolate..slight cinnamon/nutmeg..mouthfeel is slight creaminess on front with a wine/vinous intertwined with some barrel oak qualities that is a unique combination..at first medium bodied that hides the high abv well, lingering warmth and bit of heat on finish with a thinner than anticipated profile..as things warm a bit..most prominent taste is charred smores..bottle at least a few years old..

Transfer from BA review from 6-10-12- Poured from a 750 ml bottle into snifter Appearance – Pours a pitch black color with a one finger brown head. The head had big carbonation bubbles entrapped within which rapidly popped to give only a medium amount of lacing. Smell – Dark fruit aromas are the strongest. A big aroma of raisin, cherry and fig are quite nice and strong. These fruit smells are mixed with a semi sweet chocolate aroma and a sweet brown bread aroma. There is a light yeast cake and an alcohol aroma as well. Overall the smell is sweet and boozy. Taste – The taste begins sweet and bready with strong hints of chocolate. The sweet is of molasses and the breadiness is a light roasted brown bread flavor. While the brew remains sweet throughout it bitter some toward the middle of the taste as some roasted bitter cocoa and malt come to the profile. At this time there is also a somewhat sour flavor brought with the Belgian yeast flavor. In the end the taste leaves a rather roasted bitter, sweet and sour flavor on tongue with a alcohol boozy the burns ever so lightly. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thick and creamier side and the carbonation is on the lower side. The sweeter flavors really coat the mouth and lingered on the tongue. This thick body and lower carbonation really allowed all that alcohol flavor to soak in creating a very warming feel in the mouth. Overall – It was a nice experience, but not really what I am looking for in an imperial stout. It had a pretty good aroma and a nice mouthfeel but the lack of head and lacing was rather disappointing. The tastes were quite good up front in the taste, but as the taste advanced and brought in the more sour flavors, the flavor left on the tongue was not the most pleasant – it really wasn’t bad, but it also was not great either.

750ml purchased at a downtown Baltimore liquor store - she looks purdy enough - viscous black pour - fairly substantial tan lace for the abv - nose is anise, vanilla, bourbon, cinnamon, chocolate, espresso - smells boozy, but darn good - medium-low carbonation - the body is slick and thick, but somehow also a little watery on the tail end - flavor is fairly boozy, especially in the finish, which is awfully hot - however, there are some redeeming qualities in the flavor - vanilla bean, anise, light smoke, moderate Belgian phenolics - fairly sweet, with some charred sugars - looks and smells a lot better than it tastes.

A serious, thoroughly proper Imperial Stout. Lots of bitter roasted malts, leather, sour and tangy. There’s coffee and licorice here, and a gorgeous mouth feel with an oily residue and lots of ash on the finish. Gorgeous beer!

In a snifter a dark black with small fading UPS brown head. Aroma was roasted malts, dark chocolate, dark fruits, and alcohol. Taste was sweet, fruity with an earthy tone. Alcohol was strong esp during the finish were it was the major component of the taste. I enjoyed the fullness of this the heavy body and strong alcohol.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 750ml ($8.50): Pours black with a very brown head. Aroma is chocolate, boozy, yeasty, and with plenty of roast. Taste is sweet. Not very bitter at all. The booze is certainly noticeable, but not in a particularly bad way. Unless someone were to have told me that this is a Belgian Imperial Stout, I would have been hard-pressed to realize that on my own. Some complexity. Pretty good body.
