lamas (593), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Nov 17, 2007 22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy light-copper with a big tan head that leaves some lace. A crisp pilsener-ish aroma that features some corn along with rye, bananas, and hints of vanilla extract. Unique aroma for the style. Smooth, full-bodied, and very syrupy. This is just too medicinal as a whole. Overly sugary sweet. Honey, red apples, rye, and lemons dominate the flavor. Very disappointing.
zach8270 (1526), Henrietta, New York, USA Dec 26, 2008 (bottle - 22 oz) Amber/bronze pour with a very thin tan head. Aroma is very sweet and malty, with some hints of caramel and very light hops. Flavor is sweet with a lot of syrup, bubblegum, sugar, candied malts, caramel, rye, alcohol, and yeast. Incredibly complex and gives even more flavor as it warms up. Strong alcohol burn. omhper (11027), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 22, 2008 Bottled, thanks Baggio Almost clear pale bronze, small head. Aroma of vanilla and raspberries. Estery, thick and phenolic. Full bodied with doug hand syrup as well as sugar and bubblegum. Lots of flavour, bat lack of focus and too much sweetness reduces my enjoyment.
jb (789), Rochester, New York, USA Dec 19, 2008 Picked this up recently at BOTW and decided it would be a great one to celebrate a fine Steeler victory over Baltimore today. The look of this is nothing real special but has decent head and very nice lacing. Comes off initially light and airy like a farmhouse Belgian, but gains power as it warms. Nose is delicate initially but as it warms, man it hits with a wallop, sweet grainy booze aroma that is fruity. The palate is sweet and has plenty of dark fruit, it is syrupy, it has somewhat of a warm alcohol edge, but a very tolerable one. A nice beer, but not a great one.

Texture is heavy and thick. A lot of warmth from the high alcohol. GAManiac (525), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle courtesy of CrellMoset poured into a snifter.
Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head that doesn’t last too long and leaves only traces of lacing.
The aroma is very light for the style and almost fruity. It has some caramel malts but is more bready than I expected and had some light fruits, maybe apricots, and honey in the nose. There also weren’t much in the way of hops either. It doesn’t smell much like a barleywine honestly.
The taste starts out just like the aroma with sweet light fruits - raisins, peaches, pears, apples maybe. There is some caramel malts in the background as well as hints of toffee and a slight roasted character.
The mouthfeel is very, very smooth and almost syrupy with little carbonation.
This is a very unique take on a barleywine and one of the sweeter version of the style I’ve had. Not really one of my favorites from Weyerbacher but glad I tried it once.
