Commercial Description:
This year's unique brew is a rye barleywine. It's brewed with 50% rye malt, 50% pale malt, and hopped with Magnum hops. This BEER will gain even more character if aged properly.

Bottle. Pours amber, with a medium off-white head. Aroma is raisin, plum, caramel, and some citrusy hops. Flavor is similar, grainy, very rich, sticky, with a strong alcohol aftertaste. Very tasty beer.

Aroma comes through as sweet and sugary, with some apple like fruitness, this smells like its going to be a Belgian style instead of an American Barleywine. big thick sugary flavor with apple sucker overtones, don’t really get the rye anywhere, alcohol not offensive, again all very Belgian in character. . Not bad, however a bit muddled, thanks Kingpin

22oz bottle thanks to Book-M-Dano. Fairly amber colored brew, with a thin stream of carbonation filtering up the center of my glass. Fairly light aroma that is semi-sweet with caramel, and light crisp grain. Crispness because of the rye? The flavor is fair. Nothing great, nothing bad. Caramel, but with a Belgian candy like flavor to it. Honey is also present with some kind of spicy note. Alcohol is there but it works well. Medium body, round and a bit creamy. An interesting find by my buddy John.

Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown Charlottesville. Golden amber pour with a medium creamy head. Low retention, decent lacing. Sour cherry and maple aroma. That same sour cherry and maple, though this time the maple is much stronger. Thick feel. An odd one for sure.

[1226-20080328] Bottle. Sweet sickly syrup and plasticy corn aroma. Clear, amber orange body with quick white bubbles. Plasticy corn-based syrup flavour. Medium body is sugary. Offensive.
