It is a Belgian-style Pale Ale with an American twist. It is brewed with pale, caramel, and wheat malts, and hopped with centennial and Cascade hops to give it a distinctly American character. The medium bodied beer has a crisp palate and moderate bitterness coupled with the fruity esters from the abbey yeast strain. It is bottle and keg conditioned so expect a tall fluffy head and a small amount of sediment. Recipe by brewer, Jeff Musselman.

Bazooka Joe’s favorite beer. Holy bubblegum on the aroma with a hint of apple. poured very slight amber color with some protein haze, good retention and lacing. flavor was much the same as the aroma lots and lots of bubblegum and not a whole lot else going on. Something must have happened during fermentation. medium bodied with some pretty good carbonation. Overall just not enough complexity and too much bubblegum.

12 oz bottle at Howler’s in Pittsburgh. Sweet and somewhat perfume flavored. A nice balance of hops that is not overdone. A nice addition in the very fine Weyerbacher family.

12oz bottle to tulip glass. Aroma is primarily yeast. Dough. Hops. Citrus and herbs. Appearance is orange to light amber. Three finger frothy white head dissipates quickly leaving some lacing. Taste crisp and is lightly sweet with some medium bitterness complimenting well with the sweetness. This creates almost a tart like flavor. Some light sourness. Medium bodied. Oily Texture. Lively carbonation. Long lightly bitter finish. This beer is different. It is like a Belgium, a sour and a crisp IPA blended together. Overall I gotta say I like it. I will defiantly buy again. Would make a good spring/ early summer beer as well as anytime.

Pale amber, clear initially, hazy later. Attractive, earthy and herbal nose. Light body, slight flavor density, rich but refreshing mouthfeel, good carbonation, long and austere finish. Dry, bitter, refreshing acidity. Hoppy but also fruity, touch of dry malt. Elegant and interesting more than delicious but I can see it being someone else's favorite beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: Hazy burnt orange with very small head. Aroma: ripe banana and bubble gum, the Belgian yeast really shines through. Taste: moderate carbonation with the taste very similar to aroma with some breadiness to go along Overall: nice beverage, reminds me of a Hefeweizen. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle purchased either at Four Firkins, Elevated, or Surdyk’s...my memory is failing me. Poured into glass purchased in Brussels. Pours a deep orange hue with hazy characteristics making their presence known. Aroma is bready/yeasty with some mild banana and citrus. Taste has plenty of spice to it with coriander at the forefront and even brings to mind a slight bit of sour. It has some caramel notes but the hops eventually become the primary player as the taste nears its end. The aftertaste had a slight metallic note I didn’t appreciate. Overall, I would consider this a very good Belgian Pale Ale and one I would gladly recommend to other beer drinkers. Had to look up what verboten meant and, because this beer was so tasty, I’m going to start using it in sentences to impress all my friends. Example: Drinking this beer is the opposite of verboten.

Transfer from BA review on 7-11-13- Served on tap in pint glass Appearance – Served an amber-orange colored brew with a thick and creamy off white head. The head fades slowly over time to leave a good level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is bready and yeasty with a moderately strong sweet aroma of candied sugar, caramel , banana and a bit of bubblegum. Mixing with these aromas are notes of a spiciness of clove and coriander as well as a little bit of a lemon smell. Taste – The taste begins with a creamy- lightly roasted bready taste that has lots of candied sugar sweetness upfront. Straight off there are also flavors of banana, with a yeastiness quickly coming to the tongue more after the beginning of the initial taste. Coriander and clove soon follow suit with some citrus hop making its way on the scene as well. This mix of flavors takes the taste to its end where a very satisfying and smooth flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beer is on the thicker and creamier side for a beer of only 5.9 % abv with a carbonation level that is slightly lower than would have been anticipated for the style. It actually was quite nice for the bready and lightly roasted flavors of the brew with the overall mouthcoating feel produced by the combo of body and carbonation rather soothing. Overall – A very tasty BPA. It had a fantastic taste and feel and is one I will certainly come back to again and again.

Appearance: amber orange, near white creamy head. Aroma: minimal aroma--dusty citrus? Taste: weird taste; hint of honeyed graham crackers before a bit of hops dries everything out. Finish: aggressively dry finish, surprising alcohol burn. Notes: Substandard. On draft at Quench! In Silver Spring, MD.
