COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Viridis Lupulus is a celebration of the renewal of spring. This will be a new seasonal, being released in spring / early summer each year. Each brew will feature a different selection of hops from year to year. Viridis Lupulus is an unfiltered golden-copper IPA with an aggressive hop profile. Massive amounts of Apollo, Calypso, Centennial, and Galaxy hops fill this beer with dank citrus and tropical aromas. The bottle-conditioning will propel the aromas out of your glass and create a tight, fluffy head. This beer is a pure hop experience!

it has a real aggressive hop bite with a slight sweetness. It calms on the palate quickly and leaves a nice taste in your mouth. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The unfiltered-ness of this beer is evident in the cloudy hues of orange and amber, as well as the unctuous, rich, yeasty notes that waft up from the active head. Lots of fruit, moderately bitter, and very memorable.

Poured from bottle into a snifter glass Appearance – The beer pours a hazy deep amber color with a thick and massive head of white foam. The head has an amazing level of retention, slowly fading to leave a moderate level of bubbly lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is massive of a grapefruit hop smell with some lighter notes of a pine hop coming along for the ride. Along with the hop are some slightly sweeter aromas of a tropical fruit nature of mango, tangerine, and papaya along with a bit of a caramel smell. Taste – The taste begins with a lightly fruit sweetened and bready flavor with the fruit being predominantly of a tangerine and mango flavor. Right from the start a rather strong grapefruit hop is present with a little bit of a sour lemon there as well. As the taste advances the sweeter flavors fade more and more with the hop increasing quite a bit and being joined by a slight increase in a crackery flavor taking the place of the bready flavors. While the grapefruit does really grow more potent, with it comes some rather strong resinous pine hop flavors as well as some grassy and herbal hop. With the more crisp nature of the beer due to the loss of the sweet and biscuit moving to a drier cracker taste, one is left with a very resinously bitter flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side as well. For the massive resinous bitter flavors of the beer a slightly thinner body and higher carbonation may have been slightly more appropriate (at least for me) as they were a bit overwhelming and lead to an overly bitter and one-dimensional taste. Overall – A little too bitter and resinous for my tastes as it lacked a strong base to balance out the hop flavors. If you are a hop heavy for hop sake lover then this is for you and at only at ~ $5 for a bomber it is a nice affordable try.

Corked and caged 750mL bottle. Nose is hoppy, very green and dusty, fruity with citrus and faint caramel, but really reminds of a green addition just added to the boil. Pours dark amber actually leaning a bit to brown, kinda ugly, but a dense and rocky beige head redeems the package. Taste is medium-strong bitter to balance medium-strong sweetness, light warmth but not hot or burning, dark swirls of earth and caramel, piny hop, general woodenness. Fruity, lightly floral and strongly herbal, even more earth, lightly oily, stronger resins, this one reminds of a PNW old growth forest instead of a Caribbean beach. Medium body fuller at first but sags with time, watches the impact of the alcohol grow to surpass even the hops. Malt seems relatively sturdy, though. Just not for this price.

Bottle and served in one of my Weyerbacher pint glasses: Hazy golden with a HUGE over carbonated head and lots of lacing. Juicy and moderately leafy bitter with a nice malt counterpoint. Dry and metallic finish. The mouth feel is lively for sure... too much (see above). Overall I enjoyed this and this bottle is fresher than the first I had... still I would love one that is only a few weeks old.

Bottle sample at the Weyerbacher tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 6/12/14. Clear amber pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of grainy malt, spicy hop and pepper. Malty and sweet flavor with peppery character before a spicy hop finish. I think this has been sitting for a bit.

Cloudy dark amber with thick foamy beige head; aroma is mildly hoppy; flavor is robust hops in your face! feels medium to thick foamy + chewy with some fizz backbone; finishes dry and slightly bitter, more of a roasty hoppy flavor

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 Sampled from a 750 ml brown bottle this beer poured a hazy dark amber-toffee color with an enormous creamy orange-white head that lingered forever and left incredible lacing. The aroma was bitter and tart pine, grapefruit, lemon, honey and bread dough. The flavor was dry, tart and a bit chalky with notes of lemon, grapefruit, sour caramel and leather. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

From a bomber. Pours opaque orange copper with a foamy, frothy off white head. Tastes like strong hops, strong malt, strong orange citrus. Sweet, dry feel, but medium body and carbonation. Smells like malty, nutty, orange, sweet hops, and malt.
