Commercial Description:
It is a Belgian-style Pale Ale with an American twist. It is brewed with pale, carahell, and wheat malts, and hopped with centennial and Cascade hops to give it a distinctly American character. The medium bodied beer has a crisp palate and moderate bitterness coupled with the fruity esters from the abbey yeast strain. It is bottle and keg conditioned so expect a tall fluffy head and a small amount of sediment. Recipe by brewer, Jeff Musselman.

(12oz bottle) Soft, large off-white head atop hazy amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, straw, Belgian yeast, pepper, some lemon/grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, yeasty, straw, some pepper, lemon, light bread. Light-medium body, some acidic effervescence, rather drinkable.

Tasted from Growler that was filled within an hour of the tasting (thanks egajdzis) Poured a deep and muddy golden color with a very small sized head. Aromas of lots of bananas (those dried banana chips), yeast, cloves, and some sulfur. Tastes of bananas, yeast, spices, and citrus. 7 4 6 3 13 Re-rate from 12oz bottle. This one looked a lot different! medium golden with a slight haze to it. Spices, bananas, and cloves. Absent was the dominant yeast and sulfur. I’m going to bumb this one up a little.

12oz bottle-pours a foamy off white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is herbal/pine/some perfumy, medium malt-bready. Taste is semi-dry-lemon/herbal/pine/some perfumy hops (saaz, centennial?), spice/pepper/clove, yeast, medium malt-bready. A lot going on here. Medium body. Nice American brewery doing a Belgian PA.

Bottle... Mostly clear golden ale with a large, fine-bubbled, cream-colored head. Fantastic retention. Soapy, yeasty, spicy (clove phenol) aroma. Also, lesser notes of sweet orange, coriander, pear and peach... maybe pink bubblegum? Full-bodied with a whole-milk mouthfeel and bristly carbonation. Sweet and fruity up front; healthy bitterness on the backside. Lengthy, bittersweet, and then only bitter finish. Kudos to Johnykat for providing this rarity!

Pours a transparent deep copper amber with a frothy, well-lacing white head. Aroma of toasty semi-sweet biscuity Belgian malt with a touch of floral grassy hops. Starts with pretty good fullness and a lightly sweet pale maltiness with good light citrusy hop balance before a crisp, bittersweet finish. Very drinkable and true to style.

Bottle courtesy of hopdog. A great beer in the vein of Duvel and Mathilda. Pours caramel. Smells and tastes grassy and earthy with some sugary hints and a fair amount of spiciness.

Hazy golden pour. Slightly sweaty/goaty aroma. It’s a bit sweet and chewy. There is a light pale malt and a bit of strange sweetness. A bit of light herbal hoppiness. A touch of lemon and citrus with an earthy/peppery finish. It’s okay... sort of rustic.
