2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 meerbier (828) - Pijnacker, NETHERLANDS - DEC 30, 2011
Bottle@Home. Herbal hops, citrus and malts aroma. Amber, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, sourish, light bitter, fruity, light herbal, light malty. Full, soft, light alcoholic. Is this supposed to be an IPA??? They do make good malts, however...
4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 zonmei (23) - Bamberg, GERMANY - DEC 8, 2011
Being from Bamberg I wouldn’t have expected to find such a lovely IPA! I just made a trip to the East Coast of the USA and fell in love with this style.
Pours a hazy amber with ample head. I poured a half liter from a bottle at Cafe Abseits here in Bamberg. Great IPA smell to it. Spicy citrus smell and great mouth taste. A bit alcohol in the aftertaste but at 7% you would expect it.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 jfb (1448) - GERMANY - NOV 12, 2011
(draught) pours a hazy deep golden colour with a frothy white head. underwhelming aroma of floral hops, dandelions, butterscotch, oranges and straciatella. flavour is mostly the same, with notes of milk chocolate, floral hops and grain. medium-bodied with soft carbonation and a medium-bitter finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 brugmanneke (58) - GERMANY - OCT 8, 2011
(bottle) Orange, hazy colour. Foamy head disappears quickly. Sweetish smell of herbal candy, a little yogurty and piney perhaps. Medium to full body, a little sticky. Less bitter than other IPA’s I’ve had, probably because the sweetness masks part of the hoppy character. Hops taste piney and herbal with a only a touch of grapefruit. Also quite alcoholic taste. Not a very typical IPA, but not bad either.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 crossovert (2559) - Wisconsin, USA - JUL 29, 2011
Maybe it is because I have been being deprived of IPAs as of late but this was fantastic. I did have it just meters form the brewery so freshness counts. It is a grapefruit BOMB. It is a bit sweet and east-coast style but for a sweeter IPA it is delicious.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 MiP (11473) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JUL 17, 2011
Bottle, 6.9%. Good grassy and caramelly hop aroma, smells American. Cloudy dark orange colour. Almost no head. The flavour has the same hop note as the aroma, refreshingly grassy and clean. Good sweetness, but not too much and balanced by a distinct and clean bitterness. Very low carbonation, too low in my opinion.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Dedollewaitor (9490) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 11, 2011
Bottle @ Cafe Abseits, Bamberg. Pours unclear orange with a small creamy off white head. Yeast and dusty hoppy nose with some fruity notes. Really bitter flavor and finish with notes of peach, grass and grain. Medium bodied. Quite messy and unrefined. A homebrew feel to it!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 pivnizub (7033) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle (@Café Abseits, Bamberg): Deep golden to light amber coloured, mid-sized off-white head; solid hoppy nose with a distinctive caramelly background; solid dry bitter flavour; hops sticking to the palate, dry bitter-caramelly finish. Keep on brewing these styles......
