DruncanVeasey (6950) - NUNEATON, Top 24, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - OCT 9, 2011
Gravity, Hinckley 2011, 16/09/11. Dirty copper with a fleeting ring of bubbles. Barely distinguishable caramelised sugar, watery apple fruit aroma. More flavour with a soft plummy streak, dunked Hobnob notes, sultana, even a dab of demerara-sweetened milky coffee. Decent enough, just feels a bit unfinished and watery in the finish.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Hazy brown with a beige thin foam. Aromas are weetabix and chocolate with raisins and bready yeast. Lightly roasted with hints of berry. Flavours are sweet toffee malts with caramel and cream. Lightly fruity with dry black tea. Served acidentally without a sparkler but all the better for it.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Copper with white head. This was so cold it hurt my teeth, I suspect the temperature was being used to mask a tiring beer. Sweet maltiness with a little burnt caramel in the background, smooth and reasonably full, but didnít get a roasty note. Itís ok.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 15/02/2011. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, orange and toffee aroma. Flavour had plenty of caramel red fruits and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask, The Spoons at Liverpool St Appearance is copper-brown and red. Aroma is hey; floral hops, small citrusy element. Taste is citrus hops, hey, straw, caramel, toffee-syrup meeting soy-source, creamy and buttery. Quite astringent but if conditioned properly I suspect a good session bitter.
