On cask at Camperdown Place in Glasgow. Pours a very dark brown colour with a thin beige head. Lovely maple syrup, toffee and treacle nose with caramel and Kopiko coffee sweets. Similar flavours with a long port wine finish. Very well done. Mild carbonation with lingering caramel and Kopiko’s again. Very maple syrupy without being too sweet. By far my favourite sweet stout to date.

Cask, The Benjamin Huntsman, Sheffield, UK. Wetherspoon Ale Festival. Deep brown, dark tan head. Ink and soy aroma, some celery and caramel. Not overly sweet, quite nice, toffee and some faint caramel coming through on the finish.

Chocolate and toffee on the nose plus a hint of bourbon. Initially sweet and full bodied like an oatmeal stout with a dry and fairly thin finish

Jet black colour. Thin creamy head. Aroma is intensely of treacle toffee! Flavour is sweet treacle toffee then burnt, bitter cocoa and coffee. Nice but the intense nature stops it from being a sessionable beer.

Hand pulled at the Briar Rose, Birmingham. Smells good - sweet and sticky. Jet black. Big, sweet fudge flavour, with essence of Baileys and Milk Tray. Loose, light in the mouth, but big on taste. Er, liked it.

Hand pulled cask at several Spoons pubs during the 2011 Autumn beer festival. Almost black with a tan head. Treacle and toffee sum this beer up and it manages to be a very drinkable brew. Just enough body and hops to stop it becoming cloying. I particularly enjoyed it with one of Wetherspoons legendary sticky toffee puddings.

At the JDW Beer Festival. This festival has really upped my love for dark beers and this is another fine example of a stout. Jet Black in a colour with a minimal head, its quite interesting to see treacle and toffee intwined in a beer, but really give it something. An interesting beer, roasts, fudge, also a bit of chocolate in there. Overall, very impressed.

Cask in the Metropolitan, JDW Fest 2011. Very dark brown. Nose is pretty amazing. Beautiful sugary toffee and caramel aroma. Taste is much more buttery caramel, with some hop bitterness.
