haddonsman (1191), Derby, Derbyshire, England Jul 28, 2008 Cask, handpump, Smithfield Derby. Can’t get this beer where you live? The take a lump of jelly (lemon preferably, lime would suffice). Roll it in pine needles. Soak it in lemon juice. Eat.
OK, it’s not that harsh, but the clue is in the name - pure Cascade, no quarter asked, no quarter given. Thin malts and fat hops make for a Whimming combination. Sorry. I was pissed when I wrote that. DeepBlack (387), Derby, Derbyshire, England Jun 11, 2005 On handpump from The Flowerpot in Derby on 1st April 2005.
Mid / light brown colour.
A good solid ale, a bit like a cask lager Gazza (720), Worcester, Worcestershire, England Mar 24, 2004 This is a very un-British beer, but none the worse for that. It's got more in common with American "hop monsters" being, as it is, stuffed full of those gorgeous cascades. The beer is very pale, think pils in colour. I'm guessing it's Pils malt so as not to distract from the hops. The nose is pure cascades; lemon jelly, limes, orange peel, pine needles. The taste follows on intensely bitter but also richly citrusy and mouth puckeringly resinous. Long, hoppy, bitter finish. A magnificent beer, one of England's finest pale ales - it's not a bitter! (sampled in the Wilke's Head, Leek, UK) leaparsons (3963), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jan 14, 2004 Light gold in colour. The aroma is floral spicy pine and pepper. Flavours are grapefruit with a light level of malt body. This beer is well hopped and very drinkable.
