The pour is a dark and murky brown with a finger of beautiful beige head. Some nice carbonation in the body with some thick creamy lacing. The nose is sweet and roasty with some nice chocolate notes. Robust burnt wood with the roasty chocolate. Some caramel malt with no hops on the nose. The taste is sweet with a nice toffee malt and good cocoa roast. A mildly bitter and dry finish with a nice and mild taste. The palate is dry and lightly bittered with a sweet taste and a medium body.

Pours dark and amber with a little color in the head. Not a fan of the semi-skunky smell. Taste is fairly plain with a full bitter finish. Love the bottle and I was excited about it, but dissapointed with a boring taste.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lagerboy (705) - British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 17, 2011
Black with a small tan head, mild malty aroma, light and effervescent,
some coffee and chocolate, easy to drink, not much to it. This is a good springboard for Lagerboys looking to branch out.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - FEB 8, 2011
08-Feb-10 (330-ml bottle, Part of Handcrafted Beers gift set: Purchased 12-Jan-11 at BevMo in Solana Beach, CA) This beer may not have aggressive flavors, but it’s not shy on flavor or character. The nose is malty and lightly sweet with medium-dark chocolate, toast, nuts, and earth. Mildly sweet flavors of nuts, chocolate, toast, and dark bread crust are made more complex by touches of cola, coffee, and caramel. Hops have little to no presence here, which is appropriate for the style, but a mild roastiness adds subtle flavor and bitterness to balance the light sweetness. The weight is medium-minus but not light enough to make it seem thin for a dark beer. The finish is pleasantly dry, just enough to counter the sweet malts, and carbonation is medium, but a little prickly. In the glass, the beer is medium brown and perfectly clear, with transparency through the center of the glass only when held up to a strong light. The light-beige head rises to nearly an inch before settling to a thin layer. Some spotty lace remains on the glass. Overall, this is pretty solid session beer, balanced, very tasty and easy to quaff, but at 5%, it’s perhaps a bit too strong in alcohol to be a true English Mild. I could easily see myself drinking a few mugs of this stuff.
3.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 illidurit (1684) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - JAN 26, 2011
Bottle poured into a pint glass. Dark amber brown with a foamy off-white head. Aroma is nutty, slightly smokey, with caramel and a nice vomity note. Ugh. Fortunately that doesn’t come through in the taste. Flavor is toasted caramel and bread with a whisper of smoke and a mineral water finish. Pretty thin with prickly carbonation.
