n0kwa (31), Talisheek, Louisiana, USA Oct 25, 2005 Mild aroma, medium lasting moderate head. Smooth tasting, amber-brown color. Decent drink, but not the best I ever had. SilkTork (3882), Rochester, Kent, England Aug 17, 2003 Updated: Apr 9, 2008Aug, 2004 Bottle, Swan, Sutton Vallance, A pretty weatherboarded pub in a very pretty village. A very hot day so the bottle was warm off the shelf. Poured with a generous head which soon settled. Carbonation remained throughout. A surprisingly malty drink. Orange amber colour. The carbonation gets in the way of any real enjoyment of the sweet malt. Finish is soft and quick, leaving merely an impression of the fizz than anything else. The barmaid said it was a bitter, but a mild or Southern style brown ale might be nearer the mark. [2.2]
April, 2008 275ml bottle from Shropshire. Vintage not given - probably 1970s. A clean golden amber appearance with a pleasing copper glow. Toffee sweet, but gently and softly in a rounded manner with a tang of age. Quite malty and pleasing. This beer gains character when allowed to age and oxidise. [2.8]
