rauchbier (2860), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jan 15, 2008 Bottle, from Rhythm & Booze in Brigg. Dull bronze, moderate off white head and gentle condition. Slight sticky fruity stale maltiness like wet bar towels in the nose, some dry nuttiness in the mouth but turning bitter with time, lingering dry nutty finish with some stale malt notes.
berkshire_john (1004), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Feb 19, 2008 275ml bottle from the Swan Hotel, Hythe, Kent. "Brewed in the UK and distributed by InBev UK Ltd" I’ve not seen this elsewhere, but it’s available at a number of pubs and bars in Hythe.
Gold in colour with a thin white head; slightly herbal aroma; sweet malt body with a strong hop content; dry and bitter hop finish with a quinine bite. Overall quite impressive. mabel (1391), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 28, 2007 [735-20071001] 275mL (w/ jerc, tupalev; By Nov-07?). Strange lightly skunked cold roast beef aroma with floral notes. Clear, amber orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Roast beef continues in flavour along with some gravy and a hint of grainy hops. Medium body. Strange, but not unpleasant. tupalev (2269), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 13, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Mabel from the Hastings Arms, shared with her and Jerc. Weird aroma - roast beef. I’m serious, I couldn’t get away from that. That’s a new one for me at almost 2000 ratings!! Taste - more roast beef! Tinny hops, mild light malt. Dusty, old. Flavourful for such a light ale. You know, I actually quite enjoyed this...odd. jerc (3071), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 2, 2007 Bottle shared by Mabel from the Hastings Arms. Date coded NOV 07 which may or may not be a year!. Dark amber body with a small white head. Interesting aroma that can best be described as roast beef which is bizarre enough that I keep looking for something else, but that remains the most accurate descriptor. Moderate grains, perhaps lightly oxidized. Flavour is similarly grainy, light bitterness with similar vague hints at roast beef gravy however incongruous. Lightly musty character. Grabs a little bit at the back of the throat. Average palate borders on thin. A rather unique experience.
