This straw colored beer greets with an aroma of noble hops, pears and Belgian esters. The flavor follows nicely with a moderately spicy hop and Belgian yeast effect buoyed by a soft malt body. The finish is crisp and dry. We enjoy this beer with spicy foods, grilled steaks, grilled chicken and mandarin salad. Where you take it is only limited by your imagination.

Bottle shared by sonnycheeba. Pours hazy orange with a medium, fizzy white head, medium retention with light lacing. Aroma is biscuit and cracker malt, pear and apricot esters with spicy and earthy hops. Flavor is barnyard yeast, supporting malt with light fruity esters, medium hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Purchased at Corks & Kegs in Richmond, VA; enjoyed at home on a warm mid May night. Appearance is a cloudy dark gold with a rich bubbly white head. Aroma is very light, clove and grape notes, also a bit of yeast. Taste is just ok, goes down crisp with spice notes, also primarily yeasty, I am tasting pears as well, light fruit notes. Again - just ok stuff.

Drought. Reddish amber color beige foamy head, doughy aroma, average carbonation, slightly bitter abrupt finish. Good but not spectacular.

I was surprised when I saw the overall rating of this beer. While my experience within Belgian pales is limited to a half-dozen-or-so beers, I found this ale to be very enjoyable. Pours a cloudy shade of tan that reminds me of an apple that has just begin to brown. Appropriate amount of head. Smells of grass and pear. Faint hints of cider with a slight hop bite in the finish. This beer is good enough to make me want to explore Belgian Pale Ale a little further. Bottle - Ale Yeah! - Decatur, GA

I had this with lamb steak and there was a good structure to the flavor and sufficient support to the body. Good white head, more hop notes (a relatively hoppy brewery compared to others on the East Coast?). (on tap at the Centennial Inn, Concord, NH)

bottle. hazy gold with a large white foamy head. pear hop aroma. a well balanced beer with light fruity hop notes without a syrupy texture and moderately sweet base malt with a touch of breadiness. light to medium body. good beers from white birch. this one is my favorite so far.

Pear, peach, and mild green grapefruit. Flavor is about what you would expect from that, a cool, mellow sweetness. Opaque orange appearance. Zesty start, smooth all the way through. Expecting better, but will give the brewer another shot.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2013 I thought this beer was enjoyable enough. Nose of Belgian yeast, grapefruit and pine. Flavors followed but the finish detracted from the otherwise tasty beer. Leave a bit of a wet grass after taste. Still drinkable

Bottled in December 2012, consumed in February 2013. Murky brownish gold in the glass, with a nice white head. Aroma is juicy, grape, yeasty, with yeasty notes. Some woody notes, too. Flavor is almost overwhelmingly bitter - kind of a medicinal bitterness, actually. As it warms, though, the bitterness fades a bit and apple and pear emerges, as well as some yeasty banana. I guess the lesson here id Do Not Serve Too Cold. Thanks to Phatdog1 for the trade!
