Inspired by our love of Belgian ales and hoppy West Coast ales. We bring Cascade and Columbus hops together with our house yeast for a smooth Belgian style hopfest. Best when fresh, this beer is not for aging. Thanks to our friend Todd Russell for help with the pilot batch.

Bottle; poured a dirty amber color with a huge light khaki head. Aroma of ripe fruit, caramel, yeast, must and a bit of flowers. Flavor had some elements that I could not pick out. Haven’t had a beer with this flavor profile in a bit. Flavor was a bit all over the place. Both hoppy and malty but a bit messy. A bit disappointing.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a bit of off white foam. Big citrusy, spicy, and slightly piney aroma. Taste is the same. Less spicy on the tongue then I would expect, but a good dose of bready yeast does settle on the tongue for the aftertaste.

glennmastrange (2667) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - JUL 1, 2012
Bottle. Moderate malt and hops aromas of roasted, caramel and cooked orange, light dough for the yeast, with hints of date, toffee, brown sugar and faint pepper. Head is small, light beige with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium brown. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bittersweet. Palate is medium to full, oily verging on creamy, with lively carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish. Bold and well rounded, with a nice finish in this Belgian Strong Ale.

22 oz bottle. I think it’s a little older than intended. Pours a hazy deep brown with minimal head (a lot of the carbonation is gone). Pretty standard Belgian ale, slightly spicy, but a but tougher to drink than I was expecting. I would’ve liked to have tried it when the hops were a little more pronounced.

Cloudy amber with a huge foamy head. The aroma has a bit of fruit with some bread. The flavor is similar with a dry crisp finish. A little bland for the style but a decent beer notwithstanding.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 3/23/12, Bottled 12/11; Batch 12

Aroma: The nose has a lot of sweet malts, some caramel, spice, clove, yeast/bread, and floral hops
Appearance: This one pours an unclear dark caramel color with a thick beige head and medium lace
Flavor: Tastes fairly sweet, with a good amount of caramel, a little spice and fruit, and light bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, leaning full, with average carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid beer, but not a particularly impressive one. I wanted it to be a little more IPA-like based on the description, but I just ended up with a very slightly hopped-up Belgian.
