Poured a dark black color, with a nice (at least for me) tan head. Aroma was pretty light malts, roasted notes. Flavor was roasted malts, flavor was touch of grains, dark, bitter chocolate in this one. Not too bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From the 22 fl. oz. bottle dated Winter 2012. The pour is deep black with a tremendous, soft tan head that leaves a significant amount of lacing. The aroma is of chocolate, dark toasted malts, plumb, yeast, and mild sweetness. The body is medium to bold. The taste has a slight bitterness woven into the overall dark complexities. Ends dry. Very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Village Market at a price of $7.50. Deep brown around the edges and black in the center of the liquid. Nearly no head or retention. Pleasant nose of rich roasted barley, sugar and slight chocolate. Taste is a mix between some dry coffee with some light roasted bitter malt. Molasses notes. Body is about average with some good carbonation. Overall this is a really well stout. On the sweet side but still good.

Pours a nice black color with a tan head. Typical White Birch nose of celery, green apple, and acetone. Heavy on the roasted malt, acidic coffee, chocolate, char, and molasses. The flavor is sour, acidic, and harsh. Lots of celery, green apple, and roasted malt. Coffee, dark chocolate, ash, and a bit of molasses sweetness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours a deep black color with a two finger khaki foam. The nose has a touch of phenols that quickly dissipate and open up to a warming fudgy chocolate and a touch of burnt sugar. The mouthfeel is round and smooth but a touch heavy on the carbonation. Nice midpalate that gains a touch of complexity with some dark fruit creeping in.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 Recently purchased 22 oz, poured into a snifter. Solid ink black with a perfect dark tan, half inch head that quickly disappears into a small layer of bubbles. Nice chocolate nose with some faint plum notes. Super creamy mouthfeel. Silky dark chocolate, but not too bitter...faint taste of licorice on the finish. The multi grain gives this the "loaf of bread in every bottle" feel. This may have just become one of my top 10 beers!
